    Ian Kluever, IF

The 1995 5th Round Pick made his debut last week filling in for the injured Kifle Al-Sadat. Though, he wasn't the slotted starting 2B, he did fill in at various infield spots collecting 4 hits (3 of them doubles). He handled his own and even attempted 2 steals (once successful) which is a nice change of pace for a team with very few base stealers.

He's going to get a chance to play every day 2B for a bit to see how he handles it.

        CL Marco Perez
        1998 2.7 (49th Overall) #43 OSA
        48 G 49.1 IP 2.01 ERA 1.14 WHIP 29 SV @ AAA

Hartford - Welcome to The Show for September Marco Perez. With Godron going down (the last sim of August of course), Perez gets the call-up to fill the void for the stretch run. Though ineligible for the postseason, Perez has proven ready and could be our closer as early as Spring Training next season. Our scout also sees the possibility of him being a 2 pitch starter, with a 5 stamina rating and a ++fastball and ++slider. He started 18 games in college at Clemson, going 10-3 and posting a 1.88 ERA and a 1.05 WHIP. We've kept him out of pretty much every deal since he was drafted. Hopefully it pays off, as Terrence Norfleet sees him as a "Hall of Fame" potential closer. For now, he'll back-up Mac Aaron in the Closer role.

3 errors in his first 7 games. Eek.

But love the stat line for a rookie.

If he was the only weak link in the IF then fine, but A.Roman is "yuk" at best in the SS role. The right side of the diamond would make any respectable pitcher puke.

Its not the pitchers that are the issue in Carolina, its the defense.

That is why the experiment is ending in the offseason and I'll ship either Reyes or Deleon out.

Can I take over Carolina? You can have Denver. We've got a lot of young talent coming up sometime around 2020.

Always see what the market is offering, but yes, if it is a bunch of lowball offers (much like I got for Goto to begin with), then I'll just shuffle the deck.

Disagree. You don't "always" see what the market is offering. Your team is in their run. If you don't make that run while it's in your wheelhouse, it will pass you by. Moving one of your best pieces right now will set you back. Your franchise is at the "tweak and compete" point. Shopping one of those two is a "still in it... but accepting the window is closing" aka Virginia.

I half agree with this. I say you keep Goto/DeLeon and move Reyes. He's a 32 year old 1B. Moving him doesn't really say the window is closing. Especially if he brings you back something valuable right now. He's the perfect type of player for a "tweak" move. There's enough talent already on that roster to replace his bat, and he's good enough to acquire a younger player that might extend the run down the line.

Probably no real value for Reyes. He's one of those guys who is worth more on Carolina than he would be on the market. Sure he has a nice contract, but otherwise what's the real market value of a 1B Only with poor D, sub-.350 OBP with a ton of K's. Sure he can hit a lot of HRs, but you can find HR or nothing type guys. So, what's his value? A 3rd? A 2nd maybe? He's worth more than that on the team.
