4-2.
Lost 2 of 3 to Pawtucket. Swept Pittsburgh 3-0.
17-15 Overall. 1 GB.
Not entirely happy about losing a series to Pawtucket, but if we can't win every series, the goal is to at least go 4-2 every 6-game week against teams we believe we are much better than right now.
Bollati pitched another strong game but fell apart late. Possibly in the game too long, it caused the loss. Denver was up 3-2 before Bollati gave up a 3-run bomb in the bottom frame of the 8th. This is the game we had to have to take the series. Ball didn't bounce our way. Media and fans are already questioning Hankins's decision to leave Bollati in the game with Stewart ready to go in the 8th and Lim set to close in the 9th.
Hector Gonzalez hit his first Denver home run.
The one win in the series was started by Ole Mens. The next two-pitch wonder to take the BLB by storm? He's only 24 and so far he's done a great job in the amazingly small sample size of 2 (3 overall dating back to his first year in the league) starts. He pitched 7 innings of 6-hit no-run ball to pick up his first win as a starter. This time Hankins went with Stewart-Roe-Lim to close it out. Fans are relieved. Media continues to question his decision from a night ago.
The #1 defense (prior to this week) committed two errors. One the night before.
The 3rd game was a Pawtucket shellacking. Their offense beat up Troy Clark and made him consider taking a bus straight to Tucson.
Unlike the moves made by a previous manager, Hankins saw a loss and went with his back-end bullpen of Miyauchi and Rodriguez. These guys never get work. Good job Hankins. The media is mellowing.
Denver returned to its extra-base haven: Rocky Top Park.
Kifle Al-Sadat went 4-4 tying the Denver Bulls regular season record with 3 doubles in one game during a 15-4 win against the Millers. In total the team had 9 extra base-hits. Mueller won for the first time this year (1-1) and surrendered just 3 runs in 5.1 innings.
Hector Gonzalez hit his first grand slam with Denver. Even Dane Browning's bat woke up with 3 hits.
Yet another error on the field.
In Game 2, Pete Fitzgerald shut down his former team going. 8 IP. 8 K. 4 H. 1 BB. 0 R.
Pittsburgh's Shawn Johnston threw 8 innings in a complete game loss.
Kel Brown hit his 8th home run of the year and the team committed 2 more errors.
The media is now focusing on poor fielding and has ignored any decisions Hankins is making with his pen.
Chuck Lindsey moved to 2-3 in the 3rd game of the series. Lim surrendered a run in the win but still saved his 10th game of the year.
Toiguchi ended a short slump with his 9th home run of the season. A solo shot in the 5th.
No errors this time and despite the poor defensive week, the team still leads the DL in Defense Efficiency (.724) and is third in Zone Rating (+12.2).
A strong week against weak teams, but that's the positive. Denver needs to beat the teams it should beat.
Pitching continues to look great.
Side note: Lindsey signed. He'll be in Denver for the next five years. Happy to have you on board old man.
We always seem to be a match-up issue for you.(FYI- Lefties suck at our stadium)
Lefties suck at Rocky Top too which is why I've done as much as I could to make some adjustments to help them out some more. Your park is my kryptonite.
I'm usually patient to a fault with the youngs kids especially the high schoolers, but for some of these kids its time for a move up.
Screw patience. I don't believe in it. I think if a guy is performing, he gets the bump. I guarantee a majority of the owners would still have Zack Mueller in AA right now.
Without the game, and no injury to offset, how am I supposed to know who to adjust? I don't have option years memorized. Just sayin. I can also barely look at anything anyway.

Yeah you'll be limited. I'm sure Clay will work with you and try to get as much done as possible considering you have little info to review.
Just hate to see a team suffer because its owner is in a tough position. Hope things work out soon enough.
