  • SHAVERMETRICS 1999 BLB Radio Podcast

Alright, tried to rush through this morning and get this up. Didn't have time to get extra fancy with some editing, but that's ok. Like I said yesterday... the audio quality is lower than I wanted. But it's good enough for you mopes.

Thanks again to Clay and also thanks to Jim for sending along some bumpers. It was a great time and I hope to do it again sometime.

For now... here's a link. I'll try and get it in iTunes sometime soon.

Fair warning... it's in depth analysis. Good stuff.

You were way too critical of yourself. This sounded great and the content was top notch. Well done, guys.

Well, if the Clown could figure out how to listen, must have done something right.

If this is well received, we're turning Pro. Do you think we can repurpose "Jake and The Fat Man"? (80's reference)

Depending on the AV Club review, we'll almost certainly do Shavermetrics again next season. Jake and I talked about some other options, but we'll see what happens.

Shavermetrics is meaty. Lots of content to pull from. That makes it pretty easy. I think some of the other ideas would be much tougher.

Sounded great. I think you guys did a good job with it. I think it would be cool if you did this on a regular basis and it lasts longer than the now defunct BLB twitter.

When you prep for your next ones, if you have any specific topics you'll be covering, just shoot me a message with the info and I can get you some Bumpers specific to the topic. For example, if you want to talk about all the money Cali is spending, I can send you "Money" by Pink Floyd or "Mo Money" By Notorious...you get the idea.

For what it's worth, Dan Patrick's show gets these Bumpers from us...so you guys are using the same stuff as the pros!

                          Good stuff!

FTR: Pawtucket's short term plan is rebuilding the minor leagues. 91-96 We made a run, but fell short. (Still haven't figured out what happened in 92 yet) We have alot of "servicable" hitters and possible bottom of the rotation starters beginning to emerge from the system but lack impact players at the moment. Its a young system so playing the numbers game. Its not a sexy system at the moment, but it will start to take shape eventually.

The budget surplus is being used to once of for all rid ourselves of this negative cash balance we've carried over past few seasons. Also, alot of "option" contracts so our payroll in the future is very decieving. Perhaps in future seasons we may be a player in the Intl free agent market.

Still a popular team, but eventually the fans will be on our ruse and start watching the game at home.
