I don't feel like I'm getting a good read on my team at the moment. My Scout and Hitting Coach both retired at the end of the '98 season and I'm not comfortable with the new guys yet. I am sensing that a few guys may bounce back from off years, 2B Hector Gonzalez and C Tyrone Abbott in particular. I'm also hoping Cavadas picks up his average a little. But I think another couple of bats are going to take their turn going cold: Donnie Small in particular.
On the pitching side, I'm really confused about my scout's take on my young guy, Tom Stolarik. With no change in his ratings beyond a slight increase in control potential, his write-up went from "Ace with HOF potential" to "September call-up maybe?"
Overall, I'm thinking we miss the playoffs for the first time in 5 seasons. Even worse, I think we're getting close to a long rebuild for Los Lunas.
