Well said. Plus with Batavia rebuilding, Philly stuck in a rut and the IL wildcard wide open might as well make a run.

Hear that, Brad... Pawtucket has labeled your team and stuck in a rut.

I see a flurry of trades coming from Brad.

I hope at least a few of these international guys are awful. Signing a guy like Fujii to an 8-year, $212M contract is an exercise in insanity. There has been one guy in league history to play at a level worthy of that kind of contract.

Perez, 3 years almost $29M. Hernandez, 5 years just over $100M. GTFO. Have fun signing these clowns while I watch RJ Curtis win another Pale Ale for the cool price of $4.8M. Overspending isn't really penalized in this league like it should be, but that's no reason to spend money like a drunken buffoon.

I agree in principle. Part of the problem is availability.

It's wonderful for you that you can pay RJ Curtis $4.8M/year, but if someone else wants him or someone similar, their only option other than praying they get lucky in the draft is to trade away their whole farm system, because those players never make it to free agency.

Those international guys are getting so much money in free agency because rebuilding teams have money to throw around and would rather overpay someone than to get someone in a trade by trading away all of the young talent they're trying to rebuild around.

Pretty good until Dave pulls out the fact he traded for Curtis, and then it doesn't work as well.

At these prices, I fully expect to get rejection letters written on hundred dollar bills, in the form of flip art.

I feel that I'm either going to completely strike out in FA or overpay for a high risk.
