Parker. Claimed Hector Pagan off waivers. Traded a 4th round pick for Tynan Brown. Traded down to draft Lorenzo Campos and traded up to select Pat Ladd.

Major injuries: Ivan Gutierrez four months. Don Leonard five months.

Funclown can definitely make a case...but I voted for Gyro. Winning that division says a lot.

Now I understand that you kids love the WHIP, but please remember to take a look at young closer, Danny Rodriquez for IL Last Call.

He led ALL BLB RELIEVERS with a blistering 1.08 ERA in 75 IP. Sure he may walk a guy or two, but in the end the job gets done, evidenced by his 97.6 save %, and .022 (IL best) blown save %.

I haven't voted yet, so I don't know where the current count is.... but as much as I won't be shocked if Gyro wins.... based on our league history... he shouldn't.

I've won exactly ONE of these awards since my ran began. The reason always was that I didn't do anything. I built the team and then just let the dice roll. With all due respect to Gyro and a few other playoff teams... that's all that happened here.

I see three legit candidates for this award.

Me - Of course people can play the "old arrogant Clay" card, though I've never PIMPed for myself before. But the facts are the facts... I lost the #1 offensive player in the league in the off-season. Made the biggest trade of the season. Dealt with the injuries. Played the rookies. And STILL won 100 games in the same division that produced the Wildcard.

Pat - Made a run with garbage. I think it's a lot of luck and the oft mentioned "winning legacy" factor. But he made lemonade plain and simple.

...and the one guys who may get no votes but mine...

Officer Friendly - Yes, Batavia was a piece of dog shit this year.... but did any GM work harder or execute his game plan to perfection like Matt did? Look at what he turned his talent into? Might it be a huge error because it could greatly impact his budget? Absolutely. But no one has ever blown it up with more laser focus before. He pulled in a bounty.

Anyway.... I honestly don't expect anyone of us to win.... but... if you look at voting history.... one of these three GM's SHOULD win.

Shit, if everyone should be GM of the year, why not me? I finished 2nd in the DL against 4 great Lager teams. I traded for a down guy in Pancho Alvarez who had a fantastic season. I swung a big deal for Hautbourg and signed O'Fallon off the scrap heap. I lost my best pitcher (Lindsey) and best hitter (Sau) for extended periods of time and won 95 games.

I mean, c'mon.

My ballot was:

Pat - put the players together and held onto the WC down the stretch, winning 92 games with lesser pieces cobbled together in the right fit.

Prez - won 101 games and built a formidable pitching staff in an unfriendly park. Whethered injuries and plugged holes with a "next man up" type strategy.

Gyro - Won the best division in the BLB with underrated starters and an underrated bullpen.

My post was intended to be largely tongue in cheek. I don't care if I win as it doesn't impact the in-game one bit. (I'm already "Extremely Popular").

The GM Award will always be all over the road because there's no logical set criteria to vote on. It's all about what you value or view as important. Hell, for many, it may be just about who you had a good experience dealing with that season.
