Jerry Brown (#1 Carolina prospect) will make his ML debut next time we face a righty. He will bat cleanup. Will keep him out of the lineup against lefties since I am in a pennant race.

Taking a chance adding a reliever to the rotation for the last week. If it goes according to plan, I'll have the rotation set up the way I want for (hopefully) the playoffs.

Regarding the Bullpen management thing... I bitched to myself about that for years. Oddly enough, my bullpen utilization has been pretty much in line with what I wanted this year. I have no idea why.

We have a chance to set a franchise record for wins. There, I said it. Enjoy your division championship, Dukes or Dinos.

Export in. Not feeling overly confident.

          I'm thinking Lonnie Coleman.

Your bullpen has been amazing for seasons now. Whatever you do, it seems to work.

Pawtucket 4-2. Just going for second place in the now weak Ale Division.

Speaking of shitty bullpen play, my hats off to closer Andy Beniquez for a very solid season in an otherwise dysfunctional bullpen. He won't end up winning any awards, but considering the team he is on there's only a handful of closers I'd rather have at the moment. (and young!)

              Thanks Andy!

Lonnie Coleman games are what we call GAME 163's/Tie-Breakers

Name comes from the season when Windy City and Virginia ended the season tied for the final playoff spot. At that time, we did not stop the last SIM in order to let the two Game 163 teams setup their roster - we just SIMMED the game. Because of that fact, the Colonials (under AI control) started journeyman Pitcher Lonnie Coleman despite having their Top 3 Pitchers available. The Colonials lost - that off-season the "Lonnie Coleman Rule" was born.

In a related story, the Colonials have won a few rings since then.
                    The Great One!

                    To many rings to count...

That little anecdote is actually a really good introduction to the workings of this league for a new owner. Takeaway: If Clay's team does not win, we change the rules so that it does. Come to terms with that and you will be a lot less frustrated with the perennial "also-ran" franchise that you just inherited.

I wish you luck in our yearly battle for second place!

We had a heart breaker Lonnie Coleman game.

In 1995, Denver led the Pilsner by 3 or 4 games entering the last week of the season. As tradition has it (because the schedule is the same damn thing every year. I don't care what you say Clay! It's the same!!), we had to play Dallas to close out the year. Dallas ceremoniously dumped us that four-game set to tie us for first at 80-82.

Dallas eventually ended up winning the Lonnie Coleman Game in what I believe was a 2-1 final in the 10th. Someone might remember better than me.

Denver's players and fans have since decided that making an effort is for naught.

Maybe you could look up the exact results in the BLB book that's in the works? I think I can get you in touch with the author.

Before you write that book, I think you should focus on implementing a BLB version of Retrosheet.
