    NEXT SIM: Monday AM

    ***

Thanks for your patience with Claycation. Schedule SHOULD stay pretty consistent for the near future.

I've opened Rosters in Single A to 40 until Wednesday. When you export for WEDNESDAY... you MUST be at 25 at all levels!!

    ***

Draft is in. There's a little screwiness at the end of the 2nd. Nothing I could do to fix it, but all of the players are on the correct teams.

    ***

We'll talk All-Stars by Monday when we're back on schedule.

    ***

    Thanks, Guys!!
    The Great One!

Thanks for the push, Clay. Still shocked you actually put in the draft last night. So, we really only missed one SIM. Best Claycation (or Vaclaytion) ever!

We went 3-3. The bullpen blew two saves. They are acting a bit rocky. Youth, I blame it on you.

Still feel like the team is too inconsistent from one week to the next. Need to do something about that.

Thanks, Me and wife off to Jellystone for our 15th anniversary. Team on auto. Rosters cut back.

Also, Gaston has but 6 doubles on the season. OMG. Interesting stat to follow. 37 is his low in a full season.

Lombardo's low stamina rating and lack of a quality 3rd pitch. Is one of the best arms in the game going to be destined to waste it in the pen? Even if he ends up being a 5-6 inning guy wouldn't that be better than throwing him in the pen? I know I asked before , but hey , Can a pitcher gain stamina.

3-3 sim. Hartford was Hartford. Syracuse stole a win from Pete Webster and probably took Evil Ways out of the All-Star game. Morris is really starting to show some power and Simmons has been doing that all year. Please let the injury to Saddat be a mere flesh wound! We have Dulap and Tex to cover the IF but he is a great defender and I hate to test depth for too long.

Btw- Hats off to the Lager owners for putting together a competetive division. I love/hate the battle with LOS for the lead.

Right back at ya' Jimmy! It's completely awesome to have a 1-game lead; and it sucks royally to be down one game. Barring you-know-what, we could have a full season of this.

BTW... Let's you and I make a pact to keep an eye on Nawlins and Ol' Miss. I don't trust either of those guys to lay low.

Claycation = Donuts. Sinking back to reality. But our draft pick looks real nice! We should have a staff from hell someday.

I've wrestled the 1-Run Game title from you, Old Man. Suck it.

And Batavia broke Bayer's streak. Karma.

Ya. That Mississippi has my number already this year. Plus the trade with Pitt was for a pretty solid player who i was going to go after in FA until I got Watts. NO has the best 1-2 punch for starters. If his CF hadn't gone off the juice, we would be in a three way tie with Ole Miss hot on our heels. Dangerous division.

Three draft picks hit the top 100. SP Carroll was the highest of anyone in the draft at 14, while other first round pick SP Robby Dwyer came in at 53 and second round pick Joey Leamy came in at 40. We moved up to 7th on the top systems with 6 guys in top 100. Lookin towards the future.

I've never seen one of my kids gain more than 1 stamina in my short tenure. For that very reason I never draft low stamina guys as starters.

As far as the weak third pitch goes I've had several (Roe, McQueen, Brown) none of them panned out. I attribute this to being in the DL but a couple of pitchers prove me wrong (or not totally right). Obviously Dimmick is a special case but then there is Alex Martinez on NO (who I refused to draft for that very reason). There are more cases in the IL so I guess other intangibles will come into play for him. Development is the biggest question. If you only want him to be a SP, trade him for a guy that can do it. I sent a couple of young arms out of town because they looked more like relievers than starters (Huffman And Hobbs). Everyone's formula is different, unless you are talking about Pitt and WAS.

Baltimore Bulldogs (42-28; 1st in Porter)
                        5-1 for the week

-Looks like we were ready for the Bock this week. Won 2/3 vs. Davenport and then brought the broom with us to The Chi. We probably should've gone undefeated, but I'm not complaining.

                        The Good

-Alex Gomez has hit his way into the everyday lineup and has unseated both Ernie Bornstein and Kazuyoshi Maekawa as the new leadoff hitter for the Bulldogs against right handers. Gomez is hitting a cool .343 on the season and I wouldn't be surprised if he makes a serious run for the IL batting title this year.

-I'm sure Ignado Sanchez is kicking himself for not winning both games this past week. Sanchez went 1-1 for the week despite a 1.98 ERA, .80 WHIP and 11 K for the week. But in Game 1 of the series against Davenport, Sanchez showed an uncharacteristic lack of control with two consecutive walks and hit batter to tie the game, which we eventually lost.

                        The Bad
-Despite great outings by Ignado Sanchez and Derek Vluegel, the remainder of our starters were torched. We gave up a total of 20 ER for the week and 75% of those runs were allowed by Wade Coates, Pat Kane, and Lonnie Fowler. Luckily for them our offense was able to bail them all out this week.

                        What's Next?
-We finish our tour of the Bock with the red-hot Los Alamos Bandits and equally hot Carolina Tobs. I'm not sure we'll have enough firepower to win the week but hopefully we can sneak out and extra win to come out 3-3.

Yea never seen anyone gain stamina.

However, I do think that a weak 3rd-pitch pitcher can make it in the right circumstances. Both Jerry Collins and Lonnie Fowler fit the mold and actually do pretty well. I recently moved Collins back to the pen, but I put him in from time to time a spot starter.

I say give the kid a try and see how the chips fall.

Outside of Bayer, I'm not sure if there is anyone else I'd rather have to close games other than Rodriquez.

And I'm not sure that I'd trade Bayer for him now with the age difference.
