Baltimore Bulldogs (37-27-24; 1st in Porter)
3-3 for the week
-I don't think the All-Star break can come fast enough. We are struggling to create runs and I just think the guys are getting fatigued. We haven't show a lot of consistency lately.
The Good
-Pat Marlin continues to knock the cover off the ball, including a 3/4 day with 4 RBI and 1 HR to catapult us to a 6-5 extra inning win over Pittsburgh. So for June, Marlin has hit .391 with 4 HR and 9 RBI with a 1.500 OPS.
-Alex Gomez may be finally putting it all together. Last week, the kid hit .462 (6/13) with no strikeouts. On the year, his average is .328 with a .391 OBP. He's death to lefties and will likely see a few more at bats against the better right handed pitchers ahead of Bornstein.
The Bad
Our pitching got man-handled by both the Guides and the Millers. We gave up 8 home runs and posted a season low, 5.56 ERA. Wade Coates has been remarkably below average of late. After posting sub 3.00 ERA for both April and May, Coates' ERA has ballooned to 11.74 in 2 games he's pitched in June.
What's Next?
We stay at home for one more series and face a team that swept us earlier in the season, the Davenport Brawlers. We then head back to my hometown to face the Playboys. The Bock looks like its back so I can no longer chalk these series up as wins. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to go 2-4 or even 1-5.
