6-1 as we run through two last place teams. Curtis selected as May's DL pitcher of the month (6 starts, 3 runs allowed), while Negron Jr claims rookie of the month honors. 5th in the overall power rankings, yet in 3rd place in our own division. Welcome to the Lager.
Unfortunately, 2/3 of our starting OF is now hurt. Time to get a little creative....

Offense is still absolute crap and the new rescout tells me why. Nice to see that some guys are no longer the power threats they used to be. Good ol' OOTP. The only computer simulation that makes guys lose muscle over the off-season.
Still, it doesn't help when Tufts is hitting .212 (that's nearly .70 points below his usual), Luis Miguel Rodriguez is OPSing .692 (when he should be nearly .800 like his career average), and Victor Garcia is hitting .50 points lower than his usual average and playing like complete trash. Those three guys hit and surely we can score an extra run a game. That would make all the difference.
Pitching is improving dramatically. The moves we've been making to the rotation/bullpen have paid off. Jumped to 4th in runs allowed.
Lim may not be great, but two straight starts going at least 5 innings, giving up just 3 runs is something I'll take. It's better than having a guy give up 5 runs in the first two innings. Bit by bit. That's the motto here in Denver.
Julian Rodriguez is back in Denver and now a reliever and he's making the best of his opportunity. Great May from him. Hope it continues.
Ole Mens is doing a fabulous job as the closer. Curt Stewart is still on a roll. Need Juan Jose Gonzalez back (he of the 0.54 ERA) and not sure why my manager isn't using Alejandro Rodriguez. One bad outing and the guy gets outcast. If Griffin and Garcia can hold their own, I'm gonna be good. Oh yea, best bullpen ERA in the league.
Pawtucket 3-4. Expected the split with Maine on the road, but not really happy losing a series to a team like Indy (3-4 seasons ago was fine) especially at home.
Our "get on base and drive them in" concept is working now, but terrible pitching at the moment. Nobody seems to be getting in a groove except CL Andy Beniquez current staff MVP.
Still gained a game so just keep plugging along.

3-4 for our worst month in a long time. Managed to escape the month with division tied and only a few games back in the WC. Brad Hayes comes back to give the rotation a boost, but he'll get a few rehab starts first. I guess we'll look at the positives.
May was an erratic month for pitching and hitting for us and a ton of road games. Hopefully June is a more consistent month.

With the way Gerard is pitching after four rehab starts, I'm a fan of the feature.
I've routinely seen guys get hammered early on when coming back from injury. Gerard got hammered in Triple A. That doesn't bother me. He's pitched brilliantly in the BLB. That's where it matters.
5-2 as we finally push ahead of Windy City to get a little lead in the division. We got Hamilton back from the DL and he obviously helps us a lot. The ageless Jose Guzman continues to impress at the plate as well. It was a good May for us at 19-9, hopefully we can keep that play up.
In the minors, Jerry Brown got dinged up and will miss 2 weeks. Jonathon Burns is still doing well for himself and should probably be on my BLB team, though the walks are a concern at the moment.
