Oh for the '98 draft? When it said 'next year' I assumed it mean '99.

I assumed it's this year's since it hasn't happen in the league file yet. Let me dig and let you know.

I think you're right. Since the draft hasn't happened in game they probably mean this years.

"Compensation For Signing of Dani Rodrguez Received!: You have just been informed by the Office of the Commissioner that your former player Dani Rodrguez has signed with the Denver Bulls. You are eligible to get a compensation, which in this case is a 2nd-round draft pick from the other team and a pick in the supplemental first round in the next first-year player draft."

Biggest thing I did was fire my freaking scout and hired a new one. John Brabant was the one who convinced me that Justin Linesman was the second coming of Willie Mays.

Brabant was always negative about everyone. Jose Famila comes in favoring Tools He excells with minor league and amateur talent. My first round picks have been hit or bomb.

Not to be a dick and cockblock Matt... and with all due respect... but this is bullshit. (Remember, I said with all due respect, so I can say whatever I want afterwards...)

Couple years ago I had a guy signed away, IIRC, the first day of the draft, and asked about compensation and was told it was too late. I also seem to remember a rule being created or reinforced after that episode that compensation picks would only be rewarded to teams if the player was signed before the in game draft pool reveal.

I mean... I know I'm not on the secret council and all...

Not that I care either way, but this is a recent conversation had here:

Obviously Opening Day is not the rule (I thought it was in-game).

I can't edit SUP PICKS in game, so I have to plug guys in. If guys let me know before we pass that point in the game, it is what it is.

Oh, I was aware of what I said in the past. At that time, I was under the impression that it was locked at that time.

Because the issues came up in multiple drafts, I started tracking eligibility. This is the first time I've seen this pop up when there was time to rectify it. It just makes sense to me to do it.

I honestly think this version of the game treats these signings differently. I think in the older versions once opening day hit (and quite frankly I think it might have even been Spring Training as the cutoff) there was no more compensation.
