  • I'm on the clock. Pick will be in shortly, it looks like there's a couple options available that I wasn't anticipating.

      • With the 22nd pick of the 1998 draft, Baltimore selects the 21 year old Miami Hurricane hurler,
        Wayne Connor.

Wayne looks like your typical late 1st, early 2nd round pick.

Upside: Connor has outstanding control of his pitches, throwing only 30 walks during the 250 IP of his college career. He has 5 workable pitches and with a bit of work, could learn to sit down a few batters in the BLB. He's also a great leader to have in the rotation.

Downside: He doesn't have too much movement and may get tee'd off by big time power hitters. He's not the smartest and may never amount to much simply because he just doesn't work hard.

Same here. I was going to move up to get him. Looks like I should have.

            • 1.23 is traded. Once it gets put into the utility you guys should be good to finish the 1st round with Brad and then Clay.

If the time comes and anyone wants to move back into the 2nd round, I have Philly's 2.7 and would move down again probably. I don't think the 3-4 guys I have left on my board at the moment will be there.

                • I'll pick as soon as the SIM is over. Need to review my notes. I know the guy Carolina got was the highest left on my board.

                  • My scout REALLY liked Sandy Franco. But 18 year old pitcher + international + very poor intangibles had me avoiding him like the plague. I look forward to his development into a perennial All Star now that he has landed with Virginia.

                        • I feel like I say this more often than not, but this draft is truly woeful. Kudos to anyone who packaged picks in later rounds to move up.

                              Go figure.
