  • 1998 HOF Voting

It's that time of year again. Hall of Fame Voting is technically open, however please visit the HOF Discussion threads prior to submitting your ballot.

It's a rather lengthy ballot this season, so take your time, have your discussions, educate other owners on players you feel strongly about.

Review the candidates and submit your ballots here. We need every owner to vote, even if you wish to submit a blank ballot. (though if you submit a blank ballot with this particular list of players up for voting, you're doing it wrong.)

Players must be named on 80% of the ballots in order to be inducted (20 of 24 if all teams submit). A player must receive 50% support in order to remain on next year's ballot if he fails to receive enough support for induction. (This year's holdovers are RP Grant Lewis, Jon Cleary - for the 6th time).

Take a moment to review this year's potential class members and feel free to publicly discuss the merits of any player (discussion threads for each player can be found in the Awards/Hall of Fame subforum here. We've set a high bar for induction so no candidate's chances can be taken for granted.

The voting utility will remain open through next Wednesday 08/01 giving everyone ample time to vote. If you don't vote your name goes on a list. Clay looks at the list and then has bad thoughts about you.

    Good luck gentlemen!

Would a limit on number of times a guy can appear on the list merit discussion?

Yep, and If I recall correctly, in the committee's initial discussions, we proposed such a limit. I'd have to research what we actually came up with at the time.

When Clay has bad thoughts about you, your players get funny hair cuts. Don't give your players funny haircuts. Cast your HOF ballot.

You used that bad thoughts joke last year, Brad. And I asked if you'd be sent to a cornfield (no one got it which makes me sad for today's youth).

          Come on, get new material.

Excluding Pete Kellum - who entered the BLB at 35 - Do you think we'll ever see a player make the HOF who plays 100% of his games for the same team?

                I'm not sure we will.

Pedro Zamarida has declined an opportunity to attend Old Timer's Day.

A wonderful game that consists of nobody.

No he'll be moved in a few years for the 1st pick in the draft and 3 top 100 prospects to a team coming off of a 65 win season.

Pancho COULD be a Colonial for life. It'll depend how 12... or 13... or 14... handles retirement. If he steps down at a realistic age - like near the end of this big contract I just gave him - I'd say there's a good chance. If he's still on smoke and mirrors at 42... probably not.
