Batavia was the only one to take Virginia to six games.

I know it's going to come off as some backwards ass self-gratifying BS.... but this really was a much better/closer series than the length might indicate. Hartford is a VERY, VERY good young team.

                Good series, UMD.

Caught Godron on a really bad stretch of appearances.

Hartford has a slightly strange substitution pattern as well. Sau was going to the bench by the 7th inning most games and therefore missing a key at bat late in more games in this series than he appeared. IMO - might want to check you Manager settings because I never want that guy lifted... even if it's defensive. He's a killer.

I know people imply only half-jokingly that there is dirty pool or Commish assistance going on for this team, but it really is the virtue of drafting SO HIGH for SO MANY YEARS. I think we're still near the middle of this "dynasty", but as my guys are moving into their 30's, I feel like we're starting to look towards a new future in Virginia. It may not be until 2000, but the "gap" is certainly shortening... and the farm isn't nearly as full as it once was.

                ***

                COMMISH HAT....

                Great season everyone!!!

Off-Season schedule will go up in the next 24 hours.

Congrats to Clay. Again, we make jokes, but if I really believed in foul play, I would have quit a long, long time ago.

I think the window is still open for a bit. With teams starting to refuse to trade with you it can only help. When you are drafting near the end of the first ever year, it will eventually catch up....unless Knudson becomes Logo 2.0....

The Stout is yours in 1998, but Wilmington is starting to turn around and I believe my "rebuild" will be short-term. I think the Bats will struggle bad next season, probably be .500 in 1999, but the 2000's will be our run. Maybe not to the BLB Championship levels of past, but my core is very young and the farm system is deep.

Looked like a pretty close series overall but the nevertheless, the same ol' result. Is it me or is does it seem like its been more fun to be in rebuilding mode over that last 10 years?

In other news Bulldogs' long time scout, Bill Rorison, called it quits at the age of 69. I'm not sure what we are going to do with him gone and I'm interested to see how the game looks from the eyes of a different scouting team.

At least I can look forward that changing.

It was never in doubt really, no disrespect to UMD who's team was death. I know what it's like to have post season disappointment but keep plugging. Virginia looks like they'll win or be close at least 5 more years. Good thing we don't have any delusions of post season until then.

Prez and I have to stir it up to have some excitement in the league. When winning the Porter means more than winning the BLB Championship you know a.) we both realize that nobody will win in this league but Virginia and b.) we have the best rivalry in the BLB.

Plus Prez is my chocolate bear...all we need is caramel bear.
