With the League's 20th anniversary season coming to a close, we are fast approaching a milestone: the League's 25th Anniversary.
In 2002 the Brewers League will begin the 25th year of its modern era.
It should be obvious that it would be a very appropriate time to name an All-Time 25 Man Roster.
So I figure we start now with the planning. Not necessarily naming players at this point, but at least deciding on how this team should be constructed.
Do we each create our own 25-man rosters and tally up the names using a point system (ala Awards Voting)?
Do we create threads for each position, throw names in and then vote on the best players for each position before constructing the full roster?
Do we let one man choose the team?
Do we let two?
Or perhaps we do something else entirely?
And what makes up the roster? Should we only have 10 pitchers and 15 position players? Should there be 11 pitchers and 14 position players? Do we only have 5 starters and the rest relievers? Or do we name 6 starters? Do we carry 2 or 3 catchers? Do we choose a DH? Should outfielders be relegated to position or can 4, 5, however many center fielders make up the entire outfield? Finally, do we once and for all assign a position to players that played multiple positions? (Is Nino a 3B or 1B? Is Zamarida a SS or 3B? Is Woodbury a CF or RF?)
May the discussion begin so we are prepared before it's too late.
