5-2 in the division and looking good. Looks like it took EG about two weeks to find his swing after the injury, and our offense is very dangerous now. Curt Guinane his playing like a man possessed even though he is still angry about his time in Syracuse.

Our AAA squad is in the championship game vs. the Rams. First time ever any of our teams in the organization have had a chance at a title.

Matsumoto started for Tucson and lasted one inning before going down with what will be a year-long injury.

We lost 2-0. I blame the gods and Matt.

And I guess I fucked up my seven day lineup? The AI decided to start Don Bolton. And after a solid performance he will get a few more looks.

So what do I do with Wouters? I put him on the DL. If I try to cut him I owe him $13m. Does he and his contract just disappear after the year?

This is our 11th playoff appearance and a chance at our 4th Championship.

This has got to be the first time in a long time, that Virginia wasn't the first team to clinch a playoff spot.

I'm gonna Joe Maddon this right now and say no one - I mean no one! - will want to play for Matt's team anymore. Good luck signing free agents, dick!
So can we fix him but make him an injured FA? I'm all for him being able to play in '99, but I won't pay his $11m rehab year.

No. That would be essentially a bailout.

If you don't want to pay, we have to let him retire.

Agree with Clay on this one. Matt gets to rid himself of 11 million next season and no one gets the benefit of a free agent power hitter.

Career ending injuries happen. I really feel for Matt since he tends to have more career enders, but if Matt chooses non-resurrection his career is over.

He could resurrect, but him on the DL and offer him a buyout. Not sure how it works in 12, but I know it's part of it.

But, yes, letting him just stay CEI is a viable and completely legal option.

I haven't been in this position (that's what she said), on a September team out of a playoff hunt, in a long, long time. I don't want to break any of the tanking rules so I do have a few questions:

                              1. Is it "OK" if I shutdown SP Ivan Gutierrez and Pat Daniels for the year? Gutz is "fragile" and Daniels is "wrecked." I really don't want to risk an injury to two guys who are a dice roll or two away from losing a rating and being shit. They are my only two locks to be in the rotation next year. I'd much rather give those starts to audition SPs for next season.

                              2. Is it "OK" if I give Robert Abbott and Mike Murdock days off down the stretch? Both veterans. Both on the tab for $16 million next year. Like Daniels and Gutz, if they get hurt, say for a 9-10 month injury, that totally fucks me for next year. I'd again, much rather give those ABs to players who are still developing their ratings. The only reason I'm not completely shutting them down is because of their morale and the fact that they are going to be All-Time D.C. stat leaders.

Days off, IMO, is fine and realistic. Shutting down as in not pitching again this season seems a little extreme for a Vet. Shutting down a young arm, to me, is more realistic. A Vet wouldn't sit for 4 week without a start.
