It will be a tight race for sure. Hopefully, I'm not involved.

6-1 sim. Some of my trouble starters have been embarressed and moved to the pen. We had a great week all around though. Hats off to Kel for winning the DL player of the week. "Evil Ways" gets the DL pitcher of the month! I remember looking at my news on the LA homepage a couple of seasons ago and it was littered with LA shutout this and LA pitcher lit up that. No awards just bad and injured. A great week for the LA fans!

I will now curb my enthusiasm. First place means absolutely nothing at this point. The Lager has proven we can play each other, except Miss (sorry), so I still count three teams that can either win the division or the WC. The year we take the WC will change the balance of the DL for the next few of seasons and put an end to Ale tyranny.

Pawtucket 3-4. Just battling the Ale as best we can.

Had some close deadline deals (actually 3), but one pulled out, one I backed from and another just peetered out.

DL Wilcard race is looking wide open now. Should be fun to watch.
I had been cringing everytime I opened sim before the allstar break because it seems like there have been a ton of injuries this season and an inordanate amnount of setbacks. We had none through the first three months. Now the injuries have caught up as we lost 3 everyday players in the last few weeks.

-O'fallon for 7 weeks and was on pace for his best season ever.

-Tex Watts 6 weeks just killed our IF depth and the platooning.

-Loren Wallace for 6 weeks has killed our OF defense and depth and is our #2 hitter.

I know water finds it's level and I expected injuries but was just praying it wouldn't all come at once.

couple of questions as I try to negociate contracts with guys (because I'm not sure I fully understand the new format)...

            1. Does the cap end after this year?

            2. If so, then there is no ceiling on what your payroll could be as long as your profitable?

            3. When we added the 10 million or so for player development did that come out of our budget? Like did that decrease our budget because we did not allocate that money for player development before?

              1. Yes

              2. The ceiling is your Owner's established budget. Profitability is always encouraged.

              3. Yes

This is still based on your owner character correct?

Well... partially.... it's still 99% rooted in what you earn. You get Media + Gate + Merch... the owner can choose to take a little off the top though.

Also, is the market going to "float" still or did we lock that one in?

Everyone started with a fresh 3 year contract when we leveled the Media Contract. After that, it CAN float... so we should all stay level for at least one more season.

So is this going to cause more desparity between teams?

Besides talent, there is no desparity between teams money wise.

Its a good question. Pawtucket ended up with one of the highest markets and besides having a good farm system & years of futility not sure why it was. "Drifting" markets is a bit of luck, but who knows might turn out in your favor.

Just an aside, but Wilmington used to be one of the bigger markets in the league with some of the more dominant players at the time. It just has been awhile. And as an occasionally wise owner once told me, it's not really your team until the 4th year.
