  • 1997 Import League All-Stars Announced

    The team that will represent the Import League at this year's All-Star Game in Pittsburgh were announced today.

    These 20 players were selected by the Owners/Managers in the Brewer's League.

    HITTERS
    C - Eron DeLeon (CAR)
    1B - Rex Morgan (DAV)
    2B - Kazuyoshi Maekawa (BAL)
    SS - Hector Chavez (VIR)
    3B - Yoritoki Maeda (VIR)
    OF - Jose Guzman (CAR)
    OF - Zak Gaston (WIL)
    OF - Jerry Daly (VIR)
    OF - Al Hamilton (CAR)
    OF - Hector Duarte (LAM)
    IF/C - Pete Miller (BAT)
    IF - Jeremiah Kelly (WAS)

    PITCHERS
    SP - Pancho Herrera (VIR)
    SP - Brian Hanranhan (DAV)
    SP - Duane Porter (LAM)
    RP - Ken Bayer (BAT)
    RP - Raul Reyes (CAR)
    RP - Hans Gordinho (DAV)
    P - Gus Jenkins (VIR)
    P - Raul Carillo (PHI)

    The final 8 players will be selected by the Owners of the two teams that competed in the 1996 Import League Championship Series (Virginia and Washington). Those 8 Players will be announced at around 6p EST tonight.

    I got Pat's list... I changed 80% of it and sent it back to him. We're hammering through it.

    BUT... Thursday time killer....

    Predictions on the final 8?

    Hint - I couldn't justify Danny Nelson (try as I might)

                      after i traded for him i tried to resign him and he refused to negotiate during the season and FA. I was upset cause I thought he had a few more years. Good to see him playing well. option 2 was Jerry Craig and all he has done is make his first ASG in his first featured role ever.

                              Would have liked to see Basil and his league leading ERA but the injury kept him out of too many games.
