It was a rough 1st half for the Muckdogs so not a lot of All-Star love this year.

Only bright spots are old reliable closer Ken Bayer...

        23 games: 13 saves, .35 ERA, .54 WHIP, 33 K, 4 BB, 1 ER

and new reliable reliever Basil Petrohilos...

        26 games: 1.64 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, 20 K, 9 BB

          Here's our best:

          Kazayoshi Maekawa (2B/SS)
          .353/.408/.461

Offensively, he is the best 2nd baseman in the league and a strong candidate for IL ROY.

          #3 in AVG
          #2 in OBP
          #2 in Hits

          Rex Knight (OF)
          .269/.425/.522, 13 HR, 46 RBI, 50 BB and only 11 K

-Rex isn't having the amazing year he had for us in 1996 (yet), but he should still voted to his 9th All-Star Game. He is 2nd in the IL with 13 homeruns, 4th in RBI, 4th in Runs, 6th in WAR, 7th in OBP.

Now obviously, these rankings are much higher when you compare him only amongst other IL outfielders, so feel free to do the right thing and insure "Sexy" Rexy is in the game this year.

          Kyoden Kubota (C)
          .246/.473/.430

-Now here will be a issue. Does Kubota deserve another All-Star appearance? You are damn right he does. His average may not be eye-popping but he still leads the ENTIRE BLB in OBP. He is 2nd in OPS, wOBA, HR among all IL catchers. He is 1st in OBP, RUNS, and obviously walks.

These are our offensive guys you need to vote in. I'll let you know which Baltimore pitchers you'd better vote in when I get back home from work.

Baltimore Bulldogs - BLB since '84
          - Porter Champs: '92, '93, '97, '98, '01, '03, '06, '08, '12
          - Playoffs: '92, '93, '97, '98, '99, '01, '03, '06, '08, '12, '13, '14, '15, '16
          - Brewmaster's Cup: '01

In addition to Jose Guzman and Eron Deleon, who both deserve your vote, here are some other Tobs to consider:

            RP Raul Reyes

            Stats- 46.2 IP, 1.93 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, 52 K, 10 BB, 4-1 record

He's back in the pen full time and he's been our go-to guy from out there. Leads the league in appearances, while holding a 1.93 ERA and a 0.90 WHIP. Strikes out more a batter per inning, isn't walking people and is one of the best in the league so far.

            CL Pancho Valentin

            Stats- 31.1 IP, 2.87 ERA, 21 saves (22 opportunities)

His ERA got pushed up by one terrible outing to start the year, but he's been lights out ever since. Valentin leads the IL in saves, was named Pitcher of the Month for May and has converted 15 straight save opportunities. We've won a bunch of close games, Reyes and Valentin are big reasons why. Take out that anomaly against Baltimore, and this is a no-brainer. He gave up 7 earned runs in that one crazy outing, he's only given up 3 in all of his other appearances combined.

            RF Al Hamilton

            Stats- .308/.421/.460, 8 HR, 48 RBI, 47 R, 47 BB to 16 K

It was a slow start for Al, but he got on track in May and he's crushing the ball in June. Despite his poor April, he still leads IL RF's in OPS, wOBA, WAR and is second in most everything else. He's one of the best players in the league.
