  • SIM COMPLETE - 1997 - SIM 9

    NEXT SIM: Friday AM

    ***

REMINDER: Friday's SIM will be the draft. You'll get a SIM or two to get SINGLE A back to 25 after the draft goes in. SIM will probably take a couple hours, but I'm working remote that day, so I'm hoping to have it LIVE by 10a (ish)

Also, going to open All-Star Voting on Friday. Just keep it in mind.

Is it me or does there seem to be a shit ton of minor league injuries this year? I wish we could expand our rosters to 30 for the minors.

There's always a ton. I think it's mostly because most owners don't pay as close attention and fatigue becomes a major issue.

2-5 week in the division. I ,stupidly, tinkered with a working formula for our lineup and we paid for it big time. Hopefully it doesn't mess with our chemistry too much.

Muckducks just quietly sneaking back up on us.

Well, I guess the changes I made two sims ago resonated with my guys. 11-2 over the past 13 games. 5-1 sim followed by a 6-1 sim. It's the Pilsner but a couple weeks back we couldn't even beat those guys. This time we sweep Dallas and come within a run of sweeping Indy and having a 7-0 week.

Chad Sinclair as a DH is definitely the best move I made this year.

Angelo Rodriguez's set back hurts. Really hoped he'd be my 3B this year. Thankfully, Melson has been hitting well.

Zamarida is back, for those that missed it.

Morgantown pitching just killed me. Made my bats look pitiful. Thankfully we've owned Wilmington to salvage the week.

Much needed day off on Monday before hosting the mighty Dukes to start Interleague play.

On 6/13, we welcome Mississippi where we'll present Mel Woodbury with his 96 Championship ring.

Maybe their GM needs to leave town more often.

6-1 vs the Ale. Pitched well. Hit OK. Opened up a little room in the division.

Sometimes just letting it ride is the best strategy. Over tweaking can be a killer.

                    Lousy weak.

I let Suarez miss his start so as to not aggravate his day-to-day injury, and of course he suffers a setback anyway and will have to be held out of his next start, too.

                    This isn't fun.

1st winning SIM (4-3) since the second week of the season. We swept BAL at home to finish out the week in 3 close games (5-4, 4-2, 1-0) with the last game being a Doug Miles gem (8IP | 2H | 9K | GS = 84). We didn't hit at all this week (outside of a Dane Browning sighting), which is nothing new.

5-2 week including a sweep of Los Lunas. Alex Martinez with two very nice starts to boost his record to 7-1 with a 4.02 ERA. And we're finally playing level with our Pythagorean record, so that's exciting. A few hitters and bullpen arms seem to be coming back down to earth, but we're continuing to win games. One major change from last season is that we're 5-2 in extras and 13-7 in 1-run games. We were awful in both categories last season.

I think you start to blow it open soon. Pitt can't hang with you forever and Maine might be long in the tooth.

Might be the team that FINALLY topples Virginia?

Im enjoying '96 redux. All the same players are injured at the same time. One injured on the exact same day as last year. Oh wait, there are some differences... With the exception of Torrres, every good player that I had last year is bad, unless injured. The games I'm losing this year I won and vice versa. So instead I am getting CRUSHED by the division and winning games against the scrubs. Which in the end leaves me with a .500 record and little reason to look forward to the rest of the year outside of the end of the season.
