Possible arbitration/contract issue

Dimmick is FA eligible at the end of the season. On my 'salary obligations' page, it doesn't show any money for him in 1998 since he doesn't have an extension. It currently shows I have $78.1 allocated to salary next year. However, on the 'budget & owner info', it shows projected payroll for 1998 to be $91.3. I think it's because it thinks Dimmick is arbitration eligible. On his player page it shows that he will be arbitration eligible and it's estimating about $13.0 for his salary. But he has already has 5 years and 104 days of service time, so he'll definitely be a free agent.

Here's the problem. Since on the 'owner page' it shows $91.3 for next year, it will only let me offer $5.0 for extensions. It thinks I'll have $13.0 tied up for Dimmick next year but I won't.

Any ideas? Possible glitch with OOTP?

Don't remember that exact amount of day it takes for a "year", but yes your owner is slating his arbitration for next season.

The good news? In about 75 days or so he will become an offical "free agent to be" and the money slated for him will go away.

Also at the very beginning of next season you free up additional money. Hope that helps. Don't worry, you'll keep him.

Have you tried actually offering him a deal above the $5mil? Just curious if it will "release" is arb figure if you're using it in an offer to him. That's how previous versions worked.

I'm going to try what Brad suggested and see what happens...hopefully that will work. If not, I can try waiting until he hits the point where it kicks over to say FA eligible and hopefully it will fall off then.

Did you bother contacting the council? Clay holds them in very high regard. They talk about baseball and rings and stuff. May help....
