Draft to AAA to Pros in a matter of games. He hung on briefly, but his development got crushed. Never turned into the player he should have been.

I agree with Clay. I still don't understand the need to push these kids. Especially hitters.

Well, as much as I wouldn't have moved him that quick, I think he's a slightly different animal. 4 years in feeder. More developed when he was drafted. I think he'll be fine.

He put up a 153 OPS+ with a 34 VORP in just 71 games at AAA.

Those numbers are insane, especially for a shortstop who plays good defense.

And he had a really nice first couple seasons in the BLB.

I can't fault Morgantown for the way they handled him.

I know it was quick, but I just didn't see the point of keeping a kid in AAA that came in hitting .360 for his first two months as a professional.

What has surprised me is his ability to terrorize right handers (coming for you tomorrow Boehmer, Morgan, and Pancho) and struggle against lefties in the bigs. I did not anticipate that.

If he can catch back up to those lefties, he can finally become an everyday starter.

10000000% agree. Seems to happen alot in this league. Sure he could hit, but nothing else developed such as his eye, avoiding k's ect. It seems they pick thing up better while in the minors.

I agree. He would have been in Baltimore as well. What would be interesting is to see who was the hitting coach at that time.

Sure. You can absolutely make that argument. However, you're coming off the CoCommish Cup. You're still awful. Why rush? Let him finish 91 in AAA. Start 92 there. If he's still killing it, maybe make him a September call up.

I understand that I'm talking more philosophy (don't burn years on guys who won't take u to the playoffs), but I do think he got stunted by being rushed.

Honestly though, my scout never thought he had good plate patience potential from day one. The best he could've gotten was a 4 according to my scout.

Let's also not undersell the theory (I'll call it theory) about winning at the BLB level aiding development. I think it works both ways.
