    2-4

Haven't had a winning sim since week one. Our pitching staff is horrible, worst ERA in the IL. Not really sure what to do. I guess just let it ride.

A 5-1 week that didn't come without a major price.

Shitty is out for most of the year after trying to run over Mike Murdock at home plate. 4 month concussion. We're going to have to see if we can make things work with him gone for so long.

A 2nd injury to infielder, Brad Antell, isn't is big offensively, but Brad has done the dirty work as a utility infielder for us for about 4-5 years now. We lose a bit of flexibility with him out, but at least its only a two week injury.

Tough luck injury with Shitty, but we strongly support anyone's decision to run down Mike Murdock.

5-1. Well, it says 3-3 but a 3-3 week is like 5-1 for us.

The decision to DH Sinclair is paying off. And I've already locked him in through his arbitration years.

Cy Gray had a good week. Two more doubles. 9 hits. Only one K. Rookies will have their ups and downs but he's solid defensively and I believe in throwing them in the fire.

            Same with Cameira and Matsumoto.

Cota might be getting a ticket back to his old team.

The three-headed monster of ¡Ole!, Gerard and Olivo had another great week.

Roes is hitting well in AAA but I don't see him as a catcher. Tough choice to make someday soon with Sinclair now my DH.

When I get home, I'm going to have to lookup who has been beaned the most this year. It seems like pitchers
ave hit Rex a lot this year.

Knight leads the IL. Probably his smuggish attitude. I hear he throws bats.

What was really nice was when some Washington srcub hit Knight starting pitcher, Lonnie Fowler hit a Washington batter the very next inning. He went on to pitch 8 scoreless innings.

                    Awesome.

hey a .500 sim progress... first non losing week of the season so far. MY guys are getting dinged up all over the place though. Still not having Howell for 2 months+ has hurt the most.

                        Observations from New Orleans:

                        - RJ Curtis was last scored on 24.2 innings ago.

                        - Yoshio Yoshida, for whatever reason, despite good ratings and an expectation to be our closer, seems to lack a closer's makeup as indicated by his 10+ ERA. Yet somehow we are still winning games. Rumor is that the team is pondering a role switch for him.

                        - Seika Sumita is on his way to his 3rd straight very solid, very unnoticed, season in a row despite a general lack of ratings and a complete lack of intangibles.

                        - Losing the Stout Slugger award last season seems to have pissed off Von Haynes, who is taking out his anger on DL pitching this season.

                        - Gene Crews is hitting .485 vs RHP (with 5 HR) since coming off the disabled list.

Enjoying this while it lasts, but I remain unconvinced that we can hit like this all year. That said, I'm glad to be piling up some wins while the bats are hot.

                            SIM 5 - Baltimore Bulldogs (21-11)

                            3-0 at WAS
                            2-1 vs WIL

Another good week but I'm not sure how many more of these we have after this one. We brought the broom to Washington with us but as I said earlier, it didn't come without a price. Luckily our offense still clicked after the Shitty injury and we were able to pull out 2 of 3 at home against Wilmington.

                            THE GOOD

Sze Zhu was the guy who had to step up in Gremades' place after his injury and played remarkably well. Zhu's line of .333/.478/.611 is something I would take any day of the week, but we know he probably can't sustain that over the course of the season. However, it is nice to know that he can come up big from time to time.

The team pitched very well this week. As a team we posted a 3.16 ERA, second only the the red-hot Colonials in the IL. Two of the better performances of the young season came from 24 year old starter, Wade Coates, and 26 year old, Lonnie Fowler, who both pitched magnificently against the in an 8-0 and 8-1 win, respectively, against the Bats.

                            THE BAD

Statistically, there wasn't much to complain about, except for Ignado Sanchez's 6 inning stinker against Wilmington. Fortunately for us and Sanchez's win column, our offense showed up so we still won the game, 11-8. However, it seems that Sanchez seems prone to alternate between good and bad starts, with no real consistency.

                            INJURIES

In a game that was probably already in hand, a freak injury has completely changed the complexion of our early season playoff hopes. Antonio Trujillo, our emerging 3rd base star hits a single with the bases loaded. Now obviously, future HOF, first baseman, Everado "Shitty" Gremades, must have forgotten he was 40 years old and tries to score from second base on the ground ball single. The Washington outfielder makes a great throw that beats Shitty to the plate. Now instead of just going for the slide, Gramades tries to jar the ball loose from Mike Murdock, and instead, knocks himself out in the collision. Gremades is taken off the field and four days later our worst fears are confirmed as Shitty is diagnosed with a concussion and ordered by team doctors to sit out for 4 months, until the symptoms subside. VERY SHITTY.

                            ON THE FARM

                            Willie O'Reilly
has proven he is a big league pitcher and has immediately been recalled back to Baltimore. In three starts at the AAA level, O'Reilly has gone 3-0 with a .39 ERA in 23 IP. Sorry to have doubted you son.

                            Angelo Falconieri
is showing that he may also be ready for a call-up soon. So far this year, the Italian has posted a 1.35 ERA, .75 WHIP, 22 K and just 4 BB in 20 innings. If anyone starts slipping (looking at you Frabrizio Sbarro) in the bullpen, the kid just could get a call.

                            NEXT UP:

We see how we fair against the league's elite in Carolina and then head back home for 3 against Los Alamos. Dantel Casteneda will likely get the call up to temporarily replace Gramades as we contemplate how to stay afloat until his return in September.
