I'm cautiously optimistic. We have the second-highest BABIP against in the league, despite also having the league's best defense.

I wonder if Bates would still be languishing around Cali's minors if I hadn't said anything.

I think Woodbury would be more beneficial to the Storm if he was on the DL right now.

It just seems if your "splurge" in free agency the game hits you hard. Happened to Syracuse last season.

I think the busts just stand out more because they're painful.

              Harcourt to VIR

              Kinsey in DAL

Shitty is hitting the ground running in BAL.

I think there are more guys who have commanded big $ and produced than vice versa.

Hell, there's actually a pretty good track record for 40 year olds.

I think there is a more important lesson (and I've shared it before)... Don't ever look at a player that VIR, WAS or CAL let's walk for free.

To be fair, Joe Rojas is sucking right now along with Woodbury. In fact, everybody not named Gene Dixon is playing like crap right now. The offense is just ice-cold. Co-commish cup here I come!

Does the 1st pick / worst record need a new moniker? Co-Commish's Cup still works for me, but I wonder if it needs to be freshened up.

This game needs a Watch List, that will send you an email each sim telling you a players stats from the previous sim.

                                SIM 2 - Baltimore Bulldogs (12-7)

                                3-0 vs BAT
                                2-2 vs CAL

I will take a 5-2 divisional week every time, thank you very much.

We split the series with a California squad that is quietly doing well for the the first time in nearly a decade. Its nice to see the Kodiaks doing well, I just would rather they didn't do so well against me.

Also, it just feels good to sweep Batavia, including a 10-0 spanking in the first game of the series. I'm guessing now their payroll is TOO HIGH to be competitive.

                                THE GOOD

The young kids are definitely coming into their own. Former 1st round draft picks, Antonio Trujillo and Alex Gomez, led the team with stellar performances at the plate. Gomez looks like he may become a great leadoff hitter, while Trujillo has been swinging the bat surprisingly well against right handed pitchers. We lead the IL in both walks and strikeouts (fewest) and these two guys are a big part of our early success.

Our pitching was also pretty darn good last week. As a staff, we posted a 3.14 ERA and currently lead the IL in strikeouts. Our bullpen is #2 in the IL with a sizzling 2.49 ERA, the best I've ever seen in a promising young starter, Wade Coates, has started four games this year going 2-1 with a 1.74 ERA so far this year.

                                THE BAD

Willie O'Reilly (MR) has been demoted to AAA Annapolis after a poor showing in the first three weeks. He's been replaced by Alex Caballeros (MR), a 24 year old lefty that has gone 3-0 with .89 ERA/.93 WHIP in AAA starts. O'Reilly isn't a bad pitcher, I just think Caballeros has a little more to add to our squad at this point.

                                ON THE FARM

                                Sadaharu Katsura (SP)
has played very well so far in Camden (AA). He's 2-1, 2.08 ERA with 17K's and just 5 BB in 21 IP.

                                Nagisa Kobayashi (OF)
may be ready to be our new 5th outfielder in the bigs. We have waived Brent Nichols, so there may be an open spot for the kid in the near future. The "Show Me State" native has been crushing AAA pitching to the tune of a .382 BA and .998 OPS. If he can keep this up for couple of months, he'll be in Baltimore by the All-Star break.

                                NEXT UP:

We round out our divisional play with two more at home against the Freedom and a couple of away games against our rivals in Batavia. After that we start our tour of the Stout, beginning with three in Morgantown against the struggling Mohawks.
