Can't see it from work. Is it not "Top talent" heavy or just a thin draft?

A little of both. I think the highest tier is about 80-90% as good as last year PLUS that tier is smaller.

There are nice players there, but its a little light overall. A top 3 pick is probably looking at more of a 6-6-6 type pitcher versus a 7-7-7 guy. Batters are real light. And some of the INT bats look to be quite weak.

The value picks will probably be late first and early 2nd picks. There isn't a huge drop off of talent from early 1st picks

4-2 week, and we get Rivera back this week.

Memmoli is OPSing 1.095 so far. That extension looks really good at the moment.

Our rotation has had a rough start.

Rookie Seisaku Naito has taken over at third and is OPSing .854 after two weeks and playing good defense. He looks like a Refreshing New Brew contender. Keep your eye on him.

Young shortstop Hector Barrera is playing well, too.

Marlon Dixon isn't hitting, but I like a platoon in center with Foster when he returns. Hopefully that will help keep both of them healthy. Plus-plus defense in center.

Chamissa and Bryant have looked good.

I'm still the idiot, but while we're talking about claims, didn't we used to use previous year's record for week 1 claims?

Game handles it. Not sure what it uses. I do know it takes same league first.

                Quick notes during lunch:

                - Von Haynes is the man.

                - Lonnie Johnston appears ready to contribute at the BLB level.

                - Alex Martinez, after a control bump, seems like a different pitcher so far.

                - Good luck in Pittsburgh, Willie Copeland.

                  No way.
Is that actual fan interest I see building in Wilmington?

I think having the best young pitcher in the league may have a little to do with both.

Wilmington is loaded with high draft choices. They have a really nice young OF too. If Don McGuire wasn't a POS and could be parlayed into another frontline SP or some IF help and they could be a contender.
With a little patience and maybe 1 or 2 small moves and the Wildcats could be poised to a playoff run by next season.

                            Around the League...

                            - Cali's boy Betts is setting a dangerous example of our new INT FA's. Future bidding wars are getting higher as he continues to produce.
I've been hiding his weaknesses by sitting him against LHP, but if he keep it up against RHP, I think I'm going to have to give him a shot at being an everyday player.

Very pleased with Betts so far... of course, this could just be a hot streak and nothing more... but great return on investment so far.

I made a bid on him. I think he has a shot at being good; just not great. It was a good pickup and I still say the price was good for his ratings.

Meanwhile in Denver we followed up a 1-5 sim with a 2-4 sim. Improvement.

Rookie Clint Branes got his first AB's this week looking to replace "shitty" as our long term 1B. In 16 AB's Clint had 7 hits with six of them extra basers (4 2B and 2 HR).

Loren Wallace continues to stay hot with 6 2B's and a HR last week.

We had a tough week in Dallas as we lost 1-2 and 1-3 in the first two games and rounded out the sweep with a 6-9 loss.
