Jayson McQueen (PHI) got released because his DFA ran out. He shows as a FA, but he's not available. Brad - I'm going to put him back on your team since you posted an out of town notice, but you need to post his exact contract in the Commish To Do thread for me.

I think the Betts deal is pretty darn reasonable.

Great signing Spectre for Guzman! Very reasonable price for a solid inning eater.

I'm sure my scout is wrong... but all those 8's for that little amount of money? Why not.

Best part of the preseason is seeing my owner, full of hope at the dawn of a new season, change his mood from furious to normal. Never change, Mitsuru Nagata!

$30,520,000 Lands CF Betts for Kodiaks
Wednesday, February 5th, 1997: Kodiaks officials hailed the signing of Ed Betts as "an integral piece to our championship puzzle," though fans were somewhat more reserved about the signing.

Betts will pocket $30,520,000 over 4 years.

                Cali Fans weren't too happy.

Shitty is in Baltimore and we are happy to have him. Our Fan Interest rose (+7) with his signing. Fans understand that there may be a slight hike in ticket cost this year to pay for his contract.

Instant offensive boost and we gave him a player option in case he wants to test FA waters and let us off the hook for the 18M next year.

Your lineup will be even tougher. Great.

If its any consolation, we ARE expanding our park a bit this year.

Plus it looks like Rex Knight has fallen completely off of the Top Players list after this rescout........:(

I made Betts a 1 year - $8.0 offer as a flier. Didn't want to commit long term, but felt like worth the gamble. I see him as more of a 6-6-5-5-5 guy, but really nice intangibles.

Excited to see what he does as an everyday player in Cali.

One of the kids in the HS feeder league is getting busy... on and off the field.

Danny Amparano has a pretty good reason to miss a game: the birth of his child. Amparano left early this morning to return home to be with his expecting wife. "I talked to him a little while ago", commented Warriors manager Frans Brusse. "He was as excited as a new father can be." Amparano is expected back in uniform in a couple of days.
