I'm thrilled to sign Woodbury. He's clearly not the player he once was but I'm confident he can still put up a ~.900 OPS. Gene Dixon, who's a damn good player was able to OPS nearly .900 and I think even this geriatric Woodbury is a better hitter than him. I plan on letting Doorbell play a few games in the OF as well. I think I got real good value for him- especially compared to last offseason when inferior talents got 20+ million a year.

Very happy with my FA signings this year- I got both Romo and Good at pretty good discounts and obviously splurged on Woodbury. My pitching still needs some work but I'll put up my offense against virtually anyone. Tentatively, this is what I plan on rolling with

      1. Gene Dixon OF
      2. Robby Bowen (moving to SS)
      3. Mel Woodbury (RF)
      4. Joe Rojas (1B)
      5. Francois St. Laurent (DH)
      6. Thang Mac (C)
      7. Jarred Good (2B)
      8. Cormac Dye (3B)
      9. Cisco Garcia (CF)

Tip o' the hat to Spectre/Mississippi. I went after Woodbury like nobody's business. Interesting he decided to take a shorter, more backloaded offer compared to my longer, more front-loaded offer. Not looking forward to facing this guy on a regular basis.

Plastic: I've been experiencing the exact same download scenario. The first couple of times it happened, I thought the program had hung up. But it turns out the file seems to be downloading even though the status bar doesn't show. It actually loads faster than it used to. It just creates the impression that it's not downloading at all.

I was hoping to get Higgins back, but Hartford offered him a bit more than I did. I'm not sure he's going to hit quite as well again, but he fields well and is probably a better option than anyone I have at SS. Pat Wallace keeps climbing in the top 100 list, but he's still nowhere close to BLB ready. At least I get a comp pick for Higgins.

It seems pretty common, but SS is still up in the air here in Carolina.

I see that Phil Mcswain went to California. He was pretty good for us until he fell off a bit this past season. I think I've got plenty of bullpen options to replace him with.

Happy to get OF Loren Wallace. I needed another OF that could play CF. Pancho Martinez was th only guy who could play center and he's a platoon LHP bat so Ill probably platoon the two since wallace is much better against RHP.

There are a few more guys im still in the running for. These relief pitchers are asking for the moon. Got a FA comp B pick for pete miller. Wanted to bring him back but he refused to negotiate with me before and after FA. Not sure when the B round is but gained little value I guess for the 5th.

Higgins will keep the spot warm for Efrain Garcia, who'll come up next season. I was surprised he took a 1 year deal. I just needed someone who could field the middle IF positions and get spot starts at 2nd for Durham (to DH) and Carbajal at SS without a significant drop in defense.

I see a few other teams received the same scouting report that I did on Ed Betts.

I was wondering when someone was going to mention him.

Speaking of the INT guys... We may want to consider an adendum to FA rules if were going to keep them. I think the 3 retired because they got no action in the month plus between creation and Jan 1st. We may want to consider a single SIM when they're created (I think it'd be at the time of the Rule V) where we could offer only INT FA's.

                        Just a thought.

I'm fine with only two making it into the league. But, always open to options.

I ranked all the FA by potential and Betts was above Woodbury.

That said, I think the same thing is going to happen to him that happens to so many INT draftees. Which is to say that his ratings are going to take a major hit when he appears on someone's roster. I was interested in him, and therefore wasn't going to mention him, but the bidding has gotten out of control.

He's like the BLB version of Yu Darvish.

Ha, yeah, which is kinda why I like the international FA's now. At first I didn't like them, but if you look at it like this, it's pretty realistic.
