I really expect Alex Gomez to blossom into a lead off caliber hitter this year. Towards the end of the season in '96, he really started looking good. I've got Nagisa in AAA a long with Marlin and others.

I've got way too many outfielders.

Now that ARB is over and I officially feel like I know my team... Here's the team we'll attempt #6 with....

        1) Barajas - RF
        2) Colon - 1B
        3) Daly - CF
        4) Chavez - SS
        5) Maeda - 3B
        6) Hidalgo - C
        7) Gill - LF
        8) Baez (R) - 2B
        9) Pitcher Spot

        ***

New look for the Colonials. With the departure of The Logo, we decided to make some changes.

Daly, coming off a major injury, slides out of the leadoff spot to a slightly less taxing spot at #3. I've always envisioned Daly as my Granderson. A speedy defender with flashes of power in the early years who develops into a more legit hitter in his late 20's/30's.

Chavez takes over the clean-up spot with Maeda at his familiar RBI producing 5th spot.

A little concerned starting the season with 2 guys coming off major injuries (Daly and Baez), but I really like this team.

Hidalgo is the breakout star to watch. We're becoming a Catcher factory here.
        The Great One!

        To many rings to count...

A trade or two could change things, but at the moment the Furry Pigs look like this:

            Rotation
            Harrison
            Davis
            Kane
            Stolarik (Rookie)
            Gomez

            Bullpen
            CL - Black
            Setup - Leyva (Rookie)
            MR1 - Tulun
MR2 - Pineda (might sneak him into the rotation a few times)
            MR3 - Silba
            MR4 - Sanchez

            Starters
C - Taniguchi (will probably platoon with Billings, again)
            1B- Knight
            2B -Gonzalez
3B - de Luna (Rookie) - Hate to sit a .300 hitter (Garcia); but The Moon is on the rise
            SS - Jones
            LF - Cavadas
            CF - Dickerson
            RF - Small
            DH - Woodburry

I can't believe Denver traded him.

              For a closer.

I think we both know there is something "missing" in this lineup.

I laughed because I understand the irony of this post.

                    Denver's Projected Lineup.
                    2B Clint Johnston
                    CF Harris Vreke
                    DH Chad Sinclair
                    RF Pancho Alvarez
                    1B Chad Melson
                    LF Dana Scott
                    3B Victor Garcia
                    SS Cy Gray
                    C Pepe Gonzalez
Made some adjustments from the above.

                    Denver's Projected Lineup.
                    2B Clint Johnston
                    C Johah McCarthy
                    DH Chad Sinclair
                    RF Pancho Alvarez
                    3B Angelo Rodriguez
                    CF Dana Scott
                    1B Victor Garcia
                    LF Rodrigo Cameira
                    SS Cy Gray

I prefer this because I have plugged in two guys that takes walks (McCarthy - via FA - and Rodriguez - originally on my bench while I tried to figure out where to place him).

I also just gave Rodriguez a three-year contract and want him to play 3B. I need his walks. I think it'll help.

Had to get Vreke out of there. I suffer a bit with Scott as a CF, but he's getting more experience there. Wish he had more range. I do like having Cameira in the lineup. Gonna Rule V him, might as well play him. My scout sees good promise in this kid.

The loss of Angelo Rodriguez to injury means Chad Melson will play everyday at the hot corner.

Move was made because Tufts will play backup to every position but catcher. Moving Tufts to start at 3B would have been good but there isn't anyone in AAA worth having to back up the middle infield.

The demotion means Jenkins will play "fifth" OF to be used on days Tufts is in the IF and an OF needs a break.

                      No jokes, Delandis.
