Carolina Tobs: 5-2 this week
87-49 overall, 1st in Bock
2-1 vs Windy City
3-1 vs Davenport
Another solid week, doing exactly what we need to do. Our magic number is down to 10. A couple more late leads got away, that still concerns me.
We're #1 in the Power Rankings. I'm not sure when the last time I could say that was, even if it is pretty meaningless.
The Good
-Al Hamilton. Still good. Not going to challenge for any award, but he's having a great season. .433, 2 HRs, 7 RBI for him this week. Since July 1st, he leads the IL in HRs (18) and RBI (62) in 58 games.
He ranks 3rd in the IL in every Triple Crown category and is one off the HR lead.
-We definitely missed Jose Guzman's bat in the lineup, but Adrian Romero, Masaoki Matsumoto and Pat Faulkner all stepped up this week to give us some scoring punch.
-Ivan Vazquez pitched well again. Val Aparicio returned to the rotation and pitched 7.2 innings only giving up one run, and more importantly for him also only walked one.
The Bad
-Manny Mendez got hurt and we'll be without him for 2 weeks.
-The AAA Winston-Salem Warthogs were denied their second consecutive championship. It was a good year for my system though, with all 3 minor league teams making the postseason, and hopefully the big club will join them soon by making the playoffs.
-Ismael Reyes, cold again this week. Chan-koo Kim isn't full-time starter material in LF.
Up Next
On the road for a pair of two game series against the Playboys and Bandits before coming home to take on Morgantown.
With the AAA season now over for us, I'll call up a few guys. Adrian Iturriaga will be back, I wasn't planning on having him spend all year in AAA but that's how it played out. Ty Booth will see his first BLB action in the bullpen. Al Snyder will also come up to give us a few innings. Not much help on the lineup front.
I'd like to go ahead and clinch this so I can rest some guys. Seeing Guzman and Mendez go down in back to back weeks is concerning. Luckily neither injury is serious and they should be 100% for the playoffs, assuming we make it.Last edited by liquidcrash; 03-14-2012, 04:03 PM.Washington Bats, 2013-

Honestly, we've been a little better than I thought we would be so far. We'll see how it plays out, but I'm by no means the favorite in any playoff series.Washington Bats, 2013-

You are easily the 2nd best team in the IL and Top 4 in the league and you know it. You are the favorite in every series in the IL except against VA and even then, it would be crazy not to call that a push either way.Last edited by Delandis; 03-14-2012, 07:27 PM.

5-2
Team waiver wire keeps on winning. Injuries sure make you do some strange things. I'm pretty sure the Porter is ours so we also brought up OF Barney Kenner (.429 this week) to now give me 7 OF's on the roster and give Wouters and Coronel a break every few days.
SP Freddie Thompson: Now 2-0 with a 2.01 ERA after being claimed from Pawtucket.
SP Shawn Johnston: Now 2-0 with a 4.40 ERA after being claimed from Washington.
SP Gene Robinson: Not a wire claim but 6-8 on the season with a 3.67 ERA after being signed to a minor league contract in the spring.
MR Pleun Schuilenberg: 1-0 with a 3.42 ERA after being claimed from Hyundai two seasons ago.
MR Romano Gonzalez: Get's a chance to play in the bullpen this week after being claimed from Pawtucket.
C Jared Kirby: Not hitting the ball well but has a .419 OBP since being claimed from Maine.
3B Jerry Stanley: Is currently on a hot streak and is hitting .286/.353/.395 after being claimed from Virginia two season ago.
