So... The bad Sau joke lead me to this thought of the day. Because the BLB is only a written universe (until Jake launches his Podcast) are there names that you wonder if you've created a unique pronunciation?
Like Akiri Abe is a great example. I remember I use to read it like President Lincoln's name, then I figured out that the Japanese pronunciation is "Ah-Bay". Same thing with Sau. In my head its "Sow", but I'm not sure that's right.

Anyway...bored.
You dick. I was just thinking this same thing over the weekend.
I started to wonder if people called Ivan Olivo "E-VON" or EYE-VEN" I've always done it E-VON.
I've also always pronounced Brode "BRO-DEE" but wondered if anyone said "BROED"
Carolina Tobs- 5-1 this week
69-42 overall, 1st in Bock
2-1 vs Baltimore
3-0 at Philadelphia
We've been kind of coasting along at .500 for the past month, so I love seeing a good week like this. We weren't perfect by any means, but we won 3 one-run games and our bats are still hot, covering up some of our pitching weaknesses at the moment.
We got Pat Faulkner back off the DL for this sim, so our lineup is healthy for the first time in a couple months.
The Good
-Ismael Reyes won IL Player of the Week. He hit .615 with a 1.764 OPS. He's back on top of the IL RBI race. I'm not sure when the last time one of my guys finished first in a Triple Crown category, so hopefully he keeps it up.
-Al Hamilton is still doing his thing at the plate. He's a good player, this Hamilton.
-Jose Guzman has been great since I made him my leadoff man. His numbers leading off- .295/.432/.578. Before that (batting 5th)? .217/.361/.308. The old man still has it.
-It's not a big deal to me (really), but my minor league teams are doing well. At 67-48, the A-level Kinston Indians have the worst record in our organization.
The Bad
-Newly acquired Doug Ellis did little to help in his first action in Carolina, giving up 3 runs and only getting 1 hitter out in his first outing. He'll fit right in.
-Kip Higgins sucked. He also sent me an e-mail asking for a contract extension this week. He's not expensive, but I never envisioned him as anything more than a stopgap or part time player.
-Jonathon Burns dropped a spot in the BA Top 100. At 6th, I think this is his lowest ranking ever. I guess this isn't bad, since he pitched just fine (7 IP, 1 run allowed, 10 K). And it was one of my guys, Fury Brown who passed him. Brown took well to his first week in AA, hitting 13/27 with a HR. I've thought that once Brown "got it" that he could fly through my system. We'll see.
Coming Up
We stay on the road for three at Morgantown and then come home for a series against the Bats. Should be a good test for us.
I've been trying to prep for next season by sitting combinations of Woodbury and other players to get a feel for this team in the Post-Doorbell era. Nothing Earth-shattering, but sitting Mel and Chavez on the same day makes a VERY anemic offense.
Meanwhile, Jerry Morgan is quietly getting into the Pale Ale conversation.
