I know the game fairly well. I'll be happy to scout your team for you. And, in my case, the more you spend, the more accurate I'll be.

        No way.

5 million different scouts having 5 million different opinions wasn't a good approach. I'd much rather have one consensus opinion (right or wrong) from the entire staff than to sift through a bunch of conflicting opinions.

          Agreed. One scout is better.

The problem is OOTP doesn't explain how much money impacts accuracy.

I have to imagine that at some point you are spending more than you need, but does anyone know the max scouting budget?

Is it 10 MM? Is it 15? 20? If it's 10 and I spend 11, the game should tell me I'm spending $1 MM over the allowable scouting budget.

It was 5 scouts, maybe it was too complex for some. I loved the fact you could have them scout EXACTLY what you wanted, when you wanted. A player, a team, minors, your entire system, the draft. And you could do a quick scout or a thorough one. They emailed you when they thought it was time for players to move up. They emailed you when guys ratings improved. Way more involved. Now it's a report every two months.

I preferred the opinions of multiple scouts then I made the decision from there. Reminded me of the early scenes in Moneyball.

The complexity wasn't the issue, the problems were redundancy and consistency.

I'd be all for the ability to scout who, what, when and where you want, but there was really no need for five different scouts giving conflicting opinions on the same guy in your organization. That just didn't make sense.

Ironically, that was the same issue that a lot of guys here had with the scouting system when it came to early draft selections.

Now everybody bitches that we all know who the top guys are in the draft. There's no suprises anymore. I think the scouting system sucks now. It's bare bones.

I think even a simple "minor league scout and a major league scout" would of sufficed.

Send him (or her) off to do "team reports"

The old scouting system was incredibly tedious. I'm glad it's gone.

The best system is in the middle somewhere.

                        One scout - more control.

                        That'd be nice.

Multiple scouts were cool, but did it show what their specialty (minors, amateurs, pros, etc) was? That would be neat.

Good quesiton. I woudl have to look back. It was nice too because you could have them doing a recurring job over and over so you wouldn't have to give them new tasks all the time. Told you how many days they had left. I find it ironic that people didn't like micromanagement....in a text based sports sim.

Yet when we talk about $$$$, you get all bent out of shape. Like its not part of running a team. You're such a chik!

We have people in this league that use the AI on their minors. I'd guess deep scouting would seem like even more work than that.
