Somehow, we went 3-3 and still gained a few more games ahead in 1st place in the Porter. I'm sure Batavia will turn it around at some point in the season, but it does feel nice to be in first place at this point in the season.

It's really hard to comprehend...after starting out the month 6-1 we went...

          0-6
          2-4
          1-5

By far our worst month in several years as we went 9-18 in June. Our pitching completely fell apart as we posted a 4.87 ERA for the month. Our starters posted a dominant 5.03 ERA during that time.

Looking at the new utility is pretty amazing. In June when down in the 2nd inning we went 0-10. When down in the 3rd we went 0-14. When down in the 9th we were 0-17. So basically if we were down...we gave up.

Supplemental draft pick Marco St-Pierre seems to be acquainting himself well at AA.

            12 IP, 7 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 7 K.

Hopefully the young Canadian will soon join our vast stable of promising AAAA relievers.

              Carolina Tobs- 5-1 this week
              49-27 overall, 1st in Bock

              3-0 at California
              2-1 at Wilmington

It was a pretty good week for us. Neither of our opponents look like playoff teams, but anytime we can go on the road an win 5 out of 6 I'm not going to complain.

              The Good

              -Two good months.
We closed out June at 18-9 after going 20-8 in May. Our 38-17 record over those two months is the best in the BLB.

-Ismael Reyes finally showed up. He leads the IL in RBI (well, tied for it), but he's not really having that good of a season, there has just been a ton of runners on base when he comes to the plate. This week though he led us at the plate, hitting .375 with 3 HR and 11 RBI. I really wish he would return to the form he showed in 1994, but that's just not happening. I think he can do better than he has though.

-Al Hamilton put together another good week, putting up a .346 BA with an OPS over 1.000. His power continues to improve, as he's on pace to hit 26 HRs this year, up from 16 a season ago. I think he's got a future here.

-My pitching returned to form this week. Maybe it was the teams we played, but we only gave up 19 runs in the 6 games, after being pretty bad at giving up runs this month.

              The Bad

              -
As mentioned earlier, Kip Higgins is out for a month with a herniated disc. He's been a big surprise for us at SS and it's going to hurt not having him out there.

-We have played a lot of home games so far this season, so the next couple months are just full of road trips for us. 15 of our 24 games in July are on the road, followed by 21 out of 27 August games away from home. We've done ok so far outside of Raleigh, but this could get rough.

              Up Next:

The Tobs hit the road for 3 at Batavia to finish up this 9 game road trip, before coming home to take on Virginia for 3 to lead to into the Break. I would really prefer not to play these teams back to back, but that's just how the schedule works out this season- this is our third time this season that our opponents are the Muckdogs and the Colonials, in that order.

This may be the dumbest thing ever written on this site but can someone please explain to me what this new utitlity is? or where to find it I guess is more appropriate.

I think you're safe from dumbest thing ever...we've had some doozy of some owners.

Basically just the Utilities drop down bar. Everything about this league you'd ever want to find is on it. I got my information from Last Sim portion which then breaks down into Standings, Box Scores, Graphs, Stats, Team Stats, Top Perfs, Milestones, etc...

Then from Team Stats you can break it down by date and it gives you such things as Season, Home/Away, Day/Night, By Role, vs. Opponents, Runs by Inning, etc...

You can spend hours looking at the information the database churns out.

Or you can be like me, upset that the thing still doesn't let you check stat breakdowns from one year to two, three, etc. years later.
