    * - Next SIM the draft goes in. I can't even think about doing that at 7a. I'll start it in the afternoon when I get home. Files will still be due at 7a.

NOTE: This will mean a quick turn-around from WED --> FRI, so be aware.

The torn labrum monster has struck Virginia again. Our setup man is gone for 3 months now.

Guess it's officially time to break the seal on Efrain "Gadget" Gray. He'll come up and take the Set-Up spot. God Speed, Young Man.

I guess there isn't enough time in the morning to get those resims in.

Bullpen melted down for a 1-6 sim where all the losses were by 1-2 runs. Hopefully we can keep pace traveling to the IL for 6.

Oh, I can make time. But 7-0 SIM vs my own division VS a lost Setup guy... its one of those pick your poison things.

We are not any good and we didn't expect to be, but for whatever reason the fans like us so far. Last year was a disaster at the gates even though the team played hard and we finished near .500. So far this season we're holding steady at a 58% increase in attendance. Hopefully we can keep that up and be able to afford some stadium renovations in the offseason.

I noticed in my series with Wilmington that their attendence is dismal. Maybe their fans have jumped on the Freedom bandwagon.

In a related story, Pete Collins just sent me an email saying that Dukes are "in the tank" and he wants to be moved. Perhaps for your entire draft next year, starting in round 8? Let me know if you're interested.

No, I have enough bullets in AAA. Thanks though.

A 6-1 week in division play as we roar into first place in the Ale. We went 4-0 against Pawtucket and Hartford before taking two of three at Pittsburgh.

                              Baltimore Bulldogs
                              Week #9 Performance:
                              4-3
30-28 overall, 1st in WC, 2 GB in Porter

                              1-1 vs Batavia
                              2-0 vs Philly
                              1-2 at California

I wish we could've performed better against the division's last place team, but 4-3 is still a winning sim, so we'll take it.

                              The Good

-Our offense put up double digit runs four times this week, twice at home and once away. We had seven players batting over .300 and 5 of those batting over .380. The team looks explosive at the plate again and I'm definitely happy to see that.

-How do you upstage yourself after hitting an
inside the park, grand slam to bring your team in a game that you eventually win? Become Rex Knight and then hit 3 home runs in one game in the following week. This man has been very Woodbury-esque for us. Thrifty had an OPS of 1.853 with 5 homerun, 11 runs and 12 RBI and has even reappeared on the OSA Top Players List.

-Last year's torn meniscus in his knee, hasn't slowed down outfielder, Brad Cherry. After a one week stint in Annapolis (AAA) to start the year, Cherry was recalled to Baltimore, and has responded well hitting almost .350 for the season.

-There have been better starting debuts by rookie pitchers, however Derek Vleugel did still manage to get the win last week in his debut against Philadelphia. The rookie pitched seven strong innings allowing three runs and striking out nine batters.

-Fellow top 1994 draft pick Wade Coates, has also made his way to the BLB this past sim. Although, Coates hasn't had the fan fare in the Baltimore media like his draft mate, Derek Vleugel, this flamethrower pitched relatively well in his first taste of BLB action, giving up 2 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, and an amazing 5 K's in just 2 IP.

                              The Bad

-Kyoden Kobota must be jealous of Rex Knight or something, because he really hasn't been himself lately. He's always been a late starter since coming to Baltimore, but he's usually really catching his groove for the rest of the season now. At least, that's what we hope is the problem.

                              Up Next

-Interleague play at home is the talk of the town next week. This year we host Ale members, Hartford and Pittsburgh. The Hartford series will have special meaning for Baltimore as the biggest trade of the season thus far was executed between the Bulldogs and the Whalers when Rex Knight swapped squads with young slugger, Don Castor.
