    WASHINGTON BATS:
27-24 overall, Leader in Wildcard Race....but how?

    1-2 vs. Carolina
    3-1 @ Wilmington

I expected to struggle against the (new) mighty Tobs. Should have swept Tom though.

    The Good

-I wish catchers weren't a dime a dozen in the BLB. My three hottest hitters right now are all catchers by trade. Tyrone Abbott, Mike Murdock and Artie Walker are all on fire. I've been getting them in the lineup by splitting time at catcher, first and left field, but it really isn't helping my pitching out...which I'll get to later, in the bad/ugly section. Oh, and my top hitting prospect in AAA is a catcher.

-That's about it for the good.

    The Bad

    - Derrek Tucker is out for two months. Fuck. Herniated disk in his damn back. Two months?! Cripes.

-Sending down Don Bolton and Leo Mena. My scout loves both of them but they just can't get it done in the pen. Hopefully they can get it together in Triple-A.

-My Disabled List looks like an All-Star Team. Derrek Tucker, Len Jenkins, Shawn Burton and Michio Nago.

    The Ugly

-Here is the Bats starting rotation going into next week. Tell me if you have heard of any of these guys: Rhett Erickson, Pat Daniels, Waylon Morgan, Juan Jose Cabrera, Manny Duran and Eros Cook. Probably the collective worst rotation I have ever thrown out for a sim.

    The Signings
Signed free agent C Jim Vallee to a 1-year contract worth a total of $280,000.
Signed free agent CF Jed Lynch to a 1-year contract worth a total of $750,000.
Signed free agent RF Juan Jose Hidalgo to a 1-year contract worth a total of $350,000.
Signed free agent SP Juan Jose Cabrera to a 1-year contract worth a total of $800,000.
Signed free agent SS Shumkichi Kiyomizu to a minor league contract.

Vallee will provide defensive relief at catcher, especially during the dog days of summer. Lynch will start here and there and be a defensive replacement/pinch runner. JJH, I quite frankly didn't think he would sign for so little. JJC, has zero control, but great stuff, movement, stamina and groundball...maybe I can get lucky? Kiyomizu is a better defensive/pinch hit option than old Jimmy Joy.

    Up Next

    -Two @ Virginia, two @ Morgantown, three vs. Wilmington...let's say, 0-2, 1-1, 1-2...for a 2-5 week.

We just won 6 in a row? When did I black out?

I don't understand this team but I guess it's our starting pitching that's coming through. I really wish I could sign Glen Jones to a one year contract every year because he clearly wants to cash out this offseason with the way he's dealing.

If we can get Hudson going and somehow inject some pop into our lineup then maybe we could drive in more runs. This time last week I was ready to sell the whole team off and now if we continue to play like this we'll buy at the deadline.

Hold on. With all the CEI's and torn labrums around here, we're feeling bad for Pat about a two month injury?

We're hot right now- swept Maine and took 3/4 from Los Lunas to jump into first place. Now imagine if I had a frontline starter and did not have a black hole at 3B in my lineup...

How long are we going to have to hear about Ed Andrews and these bullshit shenanigans in the D-Port locker room? Every sim these douche bags are clogging up my mailbox with this stupid story about some dumbass rookie stepping on the team logo. Knock it off, Davenport.

              Well...

It's just the latest domino to fall... First it was my starting RF, Michio Nago being knocked out for four months...Then it was my #2 SP, top 20 player Len Jenkins out two months...then my ace, Derrek Tucker is out two months himself.

I didn't even bother to include the four other injuries that were two weeks long or less. Or, I guess I just did.

How I'm 27-24, and 7-3 over my last ten is probably more shocking to me than anyone in the league.

About time he gets released. It's the one story line this league gets and I hate it.

No one feels bad for Pat. But, I think we all pour one out when someone's ACE goes down.

He's not on Davenport anymore. Or any other team for that matter.

I'm not getting the messages anymore, but I for one am glad he's apparently still hanging around their clubhouse.

Well, when Vic Munoz goes down I'll be expecting the same.

                        This is definitely true.

                        Well, except for one ACE.

Uuuggh! 2nd and 3rd elbow injuries of the year knock out a prospect/#5 SP for the season; and Cavadas for 5 weeks. He was just getting his shit together. My OF is a shambles, as Donnie Small is also out until mid-to-late September. That was the break Mississippi was looking for; not that they need any breaks at .647.

There's something in the corn that gets them hopped up.

I had never noticed the "Season Series" page in the utility until now. Has that always been there and I'm just stupid?

                              It's pretty cool.
