So this is another case where the league is assuming that every team is owned by a dumbass and they should run their team by their standard?

Just because I don't want to add a dozen guys to A-ball doesn't mean someone doesn't.

Brad says it pretty well. What's the value in loading up on late round picks? Those guys are still around for a reason. Whoever takes that deal is going to have to make room for 17 players on the A level team, or they are now cutting guys they just traded for.

You also pick at #24 in each round. That doesn't help value.

You're telling the other owners that they don't know how to run a team. That's a clear statement that YOU know better. So how is my statement off base?

An excellent salvo, but once again it's a mediocre owner talking down to the league.

What are you talking about? It is obviously better to have a truck full of stones than a handful of diamonds.

            No, not every other team.

Late round picks are just so magic beanish. People can get caught up in the moment and trade their milk cow for something they regret later.

Actually, my biggest issue is it's just so Ben E Lou-ish. It just "feels" wrong.

Ok, let's try this. Who has built a winning team out of loading up on late round draft picks and filling their Single-A team with shit? Please point out where this has ever, ever, been any kind of viable strategy for anyone, and I will totally agree with your point that this trade would be simply GREAT for someone who can draft great players in rounds 5 and beyond.

MAYBE that trade makes an ounce of sense back in the days when people were drafting Finley Kinseys in the 15th round. But today? Please.

So, the rest of the league is too stupid to do that math?

You people act like I jump on here and say "SOMEONE MUST TAKE THIS DEAL OR FACE REPERCUSSIONS".

Did I expect anyone to take the deal? No.

But keep in mind if I treated all of you, the way you treat me, half of you would have left by now.

Ah, so the point wasn't for someone to take the deal, but rather to take the bait and say you were trying to swindle people, so you could pull your "I'm perpetually aggrieved, why do you all hate me" pity party act even though, by your own admission, nobody in their right mind would take that deal anyway.

                    Got it! Thanks!

I'm only commenting on an offer you made public. The "swindle" comment was tongue in cheek. After that, I'm clarifying why I wouldn't take the trade because you asked.

No different than giving my opinion on completed trades, except the timing.

                          • So the stance of the league is that all picks after 2.10 are valueless?

So a proposal to cut the draft to 3 rounds or require everyone to full auto after round 2 should fly through voting this off-season?

The draft is something to do. What the hell else would we be doing right now. Why do we need to cut the draft to 3 rounds? Or is this just stupid hyperbole that I shouldn't even be responding to.

First of all, I half-heartedly made the offer to Pat. In fact, the subsequent PM from it tagged the joke with the "Come on... 7 for 1.... God knows you love Minors".

However, besides the obvious fuck off that you've earned... the bottomline is that if I went and preemptively tried to cock-block every deal that you guys wanted to make... you'd all leave or try to run me out on a rail. Say what you will, but I'm not wrong here.
