5-1 and another Miller wins offensive player of the week. Negron hit .350 with 5 HR's and 14 RBI. Although you could make the argument that O'fallon had a better week hitting .385 with 3 2B's, 5 HR's and 10 RBI. And dont forget Farmer who hit .481 with 2 HR's and 9 RBI.
Good enough for a second place tie.
The AI is killin it for you. Maybe don't fix that PC.
Well for one thing, there are a lot fewer internationals (talented and overall) in this year's draft.
The rescout was interesting. Looks like my scout liked a few more guys afterwards. I feel pretty good at 1.4 again this year. Before the this year I had been looking at potential draftees and I thought there was a consensus #1. I think there are 3 guys that could easily go #1 overall now, but I'm pretty sure I know who Hyu....I mean LA will pick.
I'm not sure how to feel about that Virginia series. We're the only team that's beaten them- everyone else has just gotten their teeth kicked in. We outscored them in that series. We lost 2 one-run games and somehow gave up two walk-off HRs to the same guy who isn't even good. To blow one game, we gave up 5 unearned runs. Feels like we should have taken at least 2/3 there, but oh well.
We then came home to win a series against the Bats. All things considered, a 3-3 week is all I was really hoping for. These two teams have completely owned my team for seemingly forever.
The Good
-The new starters keep getting the job done. Ivan Vazquez picked up a complete game win @ Virginia, Loren Washington pitched 7 2/3 and got the win against the Bats, and Manny Mendez was solid against the Colonials as well, though we blew his win.
-The lineup is good. Virginia threw Herrera, Morgan and Jenkins at us and they still produced. Herrera went complete, but we still scored 3 runs on him, and we chased Morgan and Jenkins pretty early. The Bats started Derrek Tucker against us, and he didn't make it out of the 2nd inning. A pretty good showing against some of the best in the league.
-Eron Deleon and Al Hamilton were huge for us. Deleon went .421/.500/.789 with 2 HRs and 9 RBI. Through 2 weeks, he's at the top of the leaderboards amongst IL catchers. Hamilton hit .423 with an OPS of 1.080. They are the stars here, assuming Deleon develops like I hope he will.
-The game decided that Raul Frayo was no longer a starter in the offseason. So far, he's thrown 9.2 IP, given up 2 hits, struck out 8 and walked 1, not giving up a run coming out of the pen.
The Bad
-The blown opportunities against Virginia. As mentioned, we gave up 5 unearned runs to let them back into the third game of our series. It was only one error, but you simply can't give them an extra out. It turned a 1-2-3 inning into a disaster. Raul Reyes gave up 2 HRs to same guy.
-Joe Reyes continued to struggle as a full-time starter, despite having one big game. I get Kip Higgins off the DL this week, so we could see a change. Higgins can't hit either, but at least he brings it with the glove.
Player Movement
-We lost 3 guys to waivers. Hector Perez is off to Los Angeles, while the Bulls took 2 of my guys in Darrel Elkington and Noel Botiglieri. This drops us down to 19th in Player Payroll. Such a low figure obviously dooms us in our playoff quest, but we'll try our best. Up Next
-7 games against the division, all at home. 3 vs the Brawlers followed by 4 against Windy City. We need to get these wins at home.
I think it looks like a solid draft. I'm not sure how much better it is than last years draft, but there's some solid depth here. Looks like it's heavy on SP and OF in the first round.
There's a couple interesting internationals, but nothing that changed the top of my board. There's still an easy #1 for me, though I don't see anyone I like as much as Bryant and Knudson from last year.
