4-2 in the uber competitive Ale. Big thanks to Clay for making the neccesary changes made to my LU as I could not export. Three good pitching performences, two from guys I don't expect to give me much (Nate Taylor, Raul Rios).

Thank god for Wes Farmer. He goes 4-4 in his first real game with the Millers and kept us from being no-hit in the second game against Los Lunas. Wins DL player of the week and carried our LU as "shitty" came out of the gates pretty slow.

You're a quick learner. I fully expect one day you'll learn how to export too.

VIRGINIA COLONIALS (6-0) - 1st Place in STOUT

              3-0 @ Philly
              3-0 vs California

              WHAT WE LIKED

Just about everything. Hard to complain when you start out undefeated. But a few highlights:

-- The Logo... is still the Logo. Wins Player of the Week honors out of the gate. When I decline his option for next year, we'll see if he steps his game up even more in a contract year. His 2 bombs this week put him alone at the top of the All-Time HR list with 489. The countdown continues.

-- The Usual Suspects... Chavez, Maeda and Daly did what they do.

-- The Best Job in the BLB... Doug Gill takes over the coveted #6 spot in the Colonial lineup aka "FREE RBIs"!!! When you put these guys in front of you, all you have to do is put the ball in place.

-- Lights Out... Pancho and Morgan both slam the door.

-- Holding Down The Fort.... Efrain 'Gadget' Gray (if he doesn't get that 3rd pitch) is out Closer of the NEAR future... but in the meantime, Adrian Martinez is finding his groove. While he won't get mentioned with the elites in the IL, on this team, his numbers will be nasty.

-- The D... easily the highlight for us. 6 games... no errors.

              WHAT WE DIDN'T LIKE

-- Hard to Complain... but our 5/6 weren't as good as I'd hoped out of the gate. Again... we won... shut up. 1.8+ WHIP will need to get under control.

-- Depth... with the two week injury to Anibal Roman (I know, boo hoo)... we're a little thin.

              ON DECK

              3 vs CAR
              3 @ WC

Gotta love a nice test against the brash young Tobs. They'll have to bring their big boy pants to face our 1-2-3. Then it's off to Chi-Town for the schizophrenic Playboys who, despite getting hit hard by injuries, started the season with two road series wins.

Everytime you mention Gadget, you mention the development of a third pitch....almost like you know it is going to happen.

Its the difference between SP and CL. Elite either way. If it happens, it happens. I have no control. I'm using him as a CL in AAA.

Carolina Tobs- 4-2, T-1st in Bock

                    2-1 vs Baltimore
                    2-1 @ Batavia

                    The Good

-The new additions to the pitching staff were great. Manny Mendez, Ivan Vazquez and Loren Washington all went 6 innings without giving up an earned run, and all 3 got the win. Adding in new closer Raul Reyes, the new guys went 20.1 IP and didn't give up an earned run.

-Jose Guzman and Ismael Reyes are tied for the IL lead with 9 RBI. They are probably going to have plenty of opportunities so they need to keep it up.

-We scored 31 runs, despite not getting a huge week from any our guys (depite the RBIs, neither of Guzman or Reyes were unbelievably good). There's a lot of depth in this lineup.

-Ivan Vazquez signed a 4-year extension. I just got him on the team, but I'm happy to keep him around.

                    The Bad

-New SS Joe Reyes had a terrible week. I'm still not sure about him being a full-time starter, and this isn't helping the cause. Shortstops are hard to come by, so finding a replacement may not be easy.

-Doug Howe and Val Aparicio were both awful in their starts. We lost those 2 games.

                    What's Next

We head up to Virginia for 3 losses, before coming home to face Washington hoping to get back on the right side of .500.

Everytime I see Len Jenkins, I just get confused about how he's managed to turn into such a good player. Looking at his ratings, I don't see it. His time in Hyundai was nothing to write home about. But somehow he's been great since moving to Washington. I'm sure some good defense behind him helps, but I still don't get it.

Did the Top Players list update? Hamilton wasn't on it last sim I don't think. He's #11 now, the only player of mine on the list.

Top Player list is dynamic. It can change every SIM. Daly comes on and off. Maeda fluctuates between 4 and 7. He's 4 now. If Sau gets hit by a bus by September, I can have the top 3 hitters in the BLB.
