    STOP. AGREEING. WITH. ME.

But seriously, Clay, You're pulling me leg here, right?

You like Morris but say Morgan is overrated? This is a joke. I get it now.

Anytime Ryne Sandberg was in a game he was "broadcasting" Joe would take every opportunity to knock on Sandberg, because people were so high on Sandberg as a HOF 2B and he was taking some of Joe's luster away.

So, when Ryno was inducted to the HOF, guess who wasn't in attendance? Yes sir, Joe Morgan. What a turd.
      Morgan the player was amazing.

Morgan the man/color guy (tv people. Not race!) is a piece of shit.

I stand corrected, but I don't even really acknowledge the fact that Rizzuto is in.

I love Jack Morris... but Morgan solidifys my argument for him. Jack Morris deserves to be in a HOF that has Morris in it. Morgan was a product of his environment. He put up great numbers during his Big Red Machine numbers... but he was "good" at best in Houston pre-Cincy and blah after. Morris did it everywhere he went.

Young people love and defend Morgan because (a) they know him as a broadcater and (b) Bill James sucked him off because of his OBP.

No way. No one loves Joe Morgan for his broadcasting. Glad Jakes gift is treating you well though.

I'm a little surprised how easily Corrigan is getting in. Sure, he was great. But when you compare him to someone like Pancho Herrera, he really doesn't look as good.

Corrigan in the IL probably is Pancho Herrera. His numbers are outstanding for the DH League.

Speaking of Clay, you tried the Russell's yet?

                  Not yet.

I'm on this training program right now where I'm off alcohol (I know...crazy) for a couple weeks. Just about done. I'm thinking I'll break it out on Super Bowl Sunday.

                    That's a bit much, no?

Pancho is super human. He's putting up Pedro Martinez 1999-2001 numbers every single season.

There would never be a pitcher in the HOF if we compared them all to Pancho.

You guys should just let the game pick HoFers for you.

As much as I disagree with ballots from time-to-time, I like the voting process because it generates controversey.

NOW... That being said, maybe the future could/should contain a "Veteren's Committee" full of 3-5 owners with like 15+ seasons in the league that each year could put a guy in as the Vet's Pick. We'd have to come up with guidelines, but it might be cool.

                            A few thoughts:

                            1. The real issue is we probably started the Hall of Fame too soon. Not enough history to compare men to and I admit at times I'm wondering if putting a guy in will look bad twenty years from now.

                            2. Much too early, in my opinion, to have a Veteran Committee choose guys that didn't get in.

                            3. Unfortunately, as long as we've all committed to this game, we don't even have twenty years of SIM time yet. I realize how frustrating it could be to wait longer to have a Hall of Fame and then there's also the risk in wondering how many owners will even be around ten real years from now.

I say I will be, but I don't know where my life will be ten years from now. My life changes dramatically every 3-4 years. I would guess that's about the same for many of our regulars.

This is the problem in my opinion. People are spending too much time worrying about what the HOF will look like in 20 years instead of comparing the players to their peers. A lot of the current candidates are founders wing type players which should be taken into consideration going forward. Obviously there will be a lot of players who blow Kellum's career stats away but that doesn't mean they should all get in the HOF because Kellum did.

                                1) The Veteren's Committee idea IS a down the road suggestion.

2). I agree with Andrew. I think we are in Era 2 of the BLB moving towards Era 3.

ERA 1 is Inaugural Draft/Founders wing type guys. We're still seeing a ton of these guys in the HOF conversation.

ERA 2 I see as a smaller/shorter era where we were getting our feet under us. Still tweaking settings. Getting into expansion and such. I think these are guys who are retiring in the early 90's through the next few seasons.

The next era, I think, are the guys drafted after expansion and after Feeder Leagues. I think we're moving into that.

                                For reference, using my team:

                                Era 1: Woodbury
                                Era 2: Pancho/Chavez
                                Era 3: Daly/Jenkins

I think all the groups should be judged against their era(s) and weighted accordingly.

                                Just my opinions.
