The game will not sign someone.

    You have to do it.

Super high level Managers, in many cases, won't manage at A-Ball. Lower your bar.

I've struggled to get a hitting coach in A ball. I'll just sign a cheap one for a year and go shopping again next season.

I'll probably rearrange my coaches to put them where I need a good one the most, unless they won't be demoted (which is likely).

They used to not accept it in previous versions... but now you can move them about as you please.

He wanted 5 years and I thought that was just too long. So I had to give him a little extra up front. He's a quality lefty pitcher with some great intangibles.

He's versatile and has been a part of all 4 of my titles. My one word of caution, make sure your BP is rested on his day cause he doesn't go deep.

Pretty happy with the way FA has worked out so far. Some hits, some misses for better or worse. Kept Poling in the mix, which the contract might be a little expensive for what he produces, but it's not outrageous and we had room to keep him. He's versatile around the infield so he's useful at several spots and the fans dig him. We were getting dangerously close to a fan interest level that would have taken a few seasons to correct and we didn't want to dig too much of a hole there.

Thought we had a chance to keep Wetton at about $5.5mil, but Maine swept in and took him away. That's OK, we'll take the sandwich pick which is a bonus considering he never even actually put on a Freedom uni.

Carillo, I've always loved and always wanted to see him in Philly since he was originally drafted here. I know he's just about done, but there's a chance he can still give us #2-3 type innings and on a one year deal it was too good a chance to pass up.

Grounds is definitely done put now when WAS looks back at his career he'll have to see PHI next to his name. Plus he's a good clubhouse vet to have around and he's a good IF who gives us some flexibility.

P Victor Rodriguez was picked up because he's Well Known and again I needed the fan interest.

We should be just about all set as far as FA is concerned. Time for ST!

I expected to get hammered on fan interest with the loss of Perez, but I hate the way fan interest hits you for losing players your fans more than likely don't give a rat's ass about - like Aquila Barberan, who was pulled off the waiver wire to be our 5th starter and wasn't even here a whole year prior to blowing out his arm. He signs elsewhere for $420K and my fan interest takes a big hit? Dumb.

Happy to get Sekien Suitani to platoon with Barry from the right side. Good intangibles and a proven winner. Fellow countryman Kiichi Suzuki should provide some quality innings at the back end of our bullpen. We liked what we saw of him in Hartford last season and we are hopeful that he'll keep his ERA under 9 in New Orleans.

We expect Pete Collins to team with Harrington, Yoshida, Copeland and Ellis to give us one of the better bullpens in the DL. Unable to upgrade our rotation, we have decided to upgrade the quality and depth of our bullpen instead.

3B Wally Eden was injured while trying to win a prize by knocking all the bottles over at the county fair. The Diagnosis: strained oblique. He's expected to miss about 2 weeks.

Ladies and gentleman, the starting shortstop for your Syracuse Slammers....

EDIT: Also... county fair in February... in Syracuse?

35 year old relief pitcher Nate Ellis will finally get a chance to play professional baseball in our Minor League system.

Ellis has been looking for a shot ever since signing a Minor League deal with the Washington Bats on September 14th 1982...Ellis didn't get a chance to pitch in the Minors because the Bats released him 13 days later on the 27th.

Ellis never gave up and after recently pitching in front of Brawler scouts was finally awarded a chance to make his dream come true.

Ellis is expected to compete for a spot in the Iowa City Kernals bullpen (single A). The 6'7 lefty hopes to make it to the show one day.

Especially after Pat hurt his ego by releasing him 13 days into his pro career.

I always thought free agents retire after one year of no activity.

                              Ellis proves me wrong.

I'm just shocked that there's a 37 year old in the minors NOT playing for Pat.
