I do it so I can manage my roster.

If I don't release certain guys it could clog my 25-man and 40-man roster. I also like to manage my minors through the off-season.

And I was actually interested in seeing if I could resign him. I just didn't want to extend him and limit myself till I saw the entire market.

I'm not sure how else to avoid those situations when I run into times I need the space.

Also I've been doing this for years. Every season.

I acted under the assumption it shouldn't affect anything but Player News since those players can't ( or shouldn't ) be signed.

If the preference is to not do it then I'll stop.

I'll probably keep doing it, just to see if someone is willing to sign a guy early. Not Carlos's fault Matt's a dirty cop.

The guy will win the Stout Slugger at age 45, hitting .400 in the process.

Also, Al Hamilton's OSA ratings are getting ridiculous. I know, they mean nothing, but I wish they were real.

              Why wouldn't they be real?

I think it's a good sign if OSA thinks an already premier young player is getting better.

It's different when the guy hasn't done anything. But this is a kid that's gonna be dangerous and the league's scout says he will be better.

Next year I'm gonna sign one of your players early. It will be the definition of full circle.

If you release them, you can't resign them either.

Just use DFA. You get 21 days at a time where they don't take a roster spot.

But, yes, no one should move from FA to a roster between the start of the playoffs and January 1st.

Hamilton is Woodbury Jr. I said it a couple seasons ago. If he stays healthy (and gets out of Carolina), he's going to have a great career.

Guys been available for 3 sims. Where is the rule against it? I cant find it in the rules page.

Just like my previous post. Just copy and paste the rule and I'm good with the void.

                          OFF SEASON RULES AND TIMELINE
*End of Playoffs to Pre Arbitration
                          *Pre Arbitration to Post Arbitration
                          *Post Arbitration to January 1st
*Free Agency to Spring Training (4 sims)
~16 days per sim from January 1st until the start of Spring Training.

I'd say it's certainly implied in the Off Season Rules and Timeline section.

Nothing is implied at all in that...it's not even a shred implied. I was more looking for "No FA signings from end of playoffs to FA1".

As I said with 3 sims everyone has a chance at him. Is my other signing good because Z doesn't want to sign him? I'll eat his contract if it's illegal per the rules. If not I see no issue.

I don't understand how it's not implied? It's a timeline. The first time in the timeline FA is mentioned is after Jan 1. Also, it's how we've always operated. Your other signing plus Davenport's signings fall into the same boat.

I didn't have a shot at him. I saw him sitting in FA. Liked him. I didn't offer a deal because FA hadn't started yet.

                                Consistency.

If it was deemed illegal with Z, all early signings should be forfeited in this case as well. Lets just get it explicitly in the rules.

                                You gotta love the off-season.
