Batavia's signing of Al-Sadat is technically against our rules. You're not supposed to sign outside FA till after Jan 1. That being said, it's Denver's choice to release him early that made him available... so, I have a whatever attitude about it.

Leave it to our resident law enforcement officer to break the rules. Have you no shame, Sir?

Again, it's not technically a rule. And, like I seem to say every season... please don't release players between the start of the playoffs and Jan 1. It really makes already muddy waters even murkier.

Don't be fooled... what a FA is asking and what they'll get aren't always the same. Good players will get 2-3 times their original asking price in FA. Underwood will be lucky to get Taco Bell and a ride to the Spring Training.

I have a problem with this. I was criticized the last two years for doing that, and the signings were voided both times even though the guys were roster filler.

Al-Sadat is a starting quality second baseman. I'm not pissed at Matt or anyone, but I am not okay with letting him illegally sign a player.

I've always believed it to be an implied rule, thus the name of the SIM = FA1.

Oh no... I'm going to void it.... but the point is.... I think the rule might need to be looked at. If other owners are going to release players and times they don't need to instead of simply waiting till the right time, it is what it is.

PS - You should be more concerned about the fact that you did it twice.

I was out of town when I did it and didn't see the original thread on the boards about it until after I did it the second time.

OK, so I cut some guys before the last sim, though none of the players that were signed. My reason was that I needed to move some guys off the DL, and I didn't realize the BLB rosters had been upped to 40. So, I was thinking it was still 25, and at that level the guys wouldn't fit.

In the future I won't be moving guys around like that, knowing the rosters jump to 40 after the playoffs. Have the rosters always moved up to 40 like that?

The earliest you should release guys is the SIM going into the RULE V (Off-Season 2). Because there are no imports going into Off-Season 3, it's a non-issue. By the time guys get the next file, it's FA-1.
