  • Potential ratings problem?

    In reading through the OOTP forums I happened upon a potential problem w/ the 2-8 ratings scale. Follow along..

    Players rated 100 appear as 8 but thats all. I have players rated 99 in batting ratings but are listed as 7's when using the 2-8 scale.

    Maybe it's a rounding issue
    99 = 7.9999 ~ 7

    The game rounds ALL decimals DOWN

    So according to this the only way someone is an 8 is if they are a 100 in that rating. If that's the case, a "7" could cover a WIDE range.

    Something worth investigating..

    I think that adds more of a "gamble" when trading guys. You have 2 guys rated 7 in contact but with one actually closer to 7 and one actually closer to 8.

      Haha. That was my post on the OOTP boards. My SN is Stu over there. I noticed it when looking through ratings for our league and saw very few 8's. Hopefully they address it. If not, we might consider going to a 1-10 scale.

        I say we keep the 2-8. Then you're gambling on a guy being good and it makes the risk/reward more interesting...could be great, could be marginal.

          Yeah, I'm definitely not opposed to that. The point of using the 2-8 scale was to have people make decisions more off performance than a rating, especially with scouting off so we know all the ratings are real.

            I even used one of Jistic's players as an example in my post on the Tech Support forum.

              I like the fact there are really no true 8's. Id vote to keep it.

                LOL, I did kinda wonder if that was you.

                Anyway, with scouting off then yeah I guess it's no big deal. I was thinking about scouting being on.

                Although I still think we should consider scouting, I think it's more difficult than knowing 'actual' ratings. But that's just my .02

                  It looks like this will be fixed in patch #1 so you might notice ratings changes in some of your players.
