We needed a miracle. Instead we go 4-2 and split with Carolina, and lose Samarano for the season.
I hereby declare that Windy City is finally giving up it's hold of the Bock. It's been a nice run, but no team can keep fighting back the great teams in this division.
I hope that someone else can do what I failed to do and bring a championship to our league. (at least I helped a lot in the all star game).
So for the first time in my tenure I must do something I've never had to. And that's "wait til next year".
I feel very confident about our chances next year. It looks like Eric Buller is real folks. He's had a better year than Theodore and only been on the big league roster 1/2 the season. This guy's been on FIRE since his callup. Too little to late for us though.
Also Joe Onomoto had "popped" This guy's been knocking, and boom he kicked the door open. His ratings are through the roof now.
The "problem" I have now is 4 outfielders with 70 or better OVL ratings depending on which scout you ask. So it may be time to move Samarano to the trading block. He's one of the best players in our league and at 29 he's got a ton left. Problem is, that 1982 is his last under contract and you know little ole' Windy City can't afford those big time free agents. He's a cornerstone of the franchise, but it may just be a numbers game.
Also Tom Tilbrook at AAA will hit the scene for good next year replacing Kirby at 1B. The scouts have verified what his stats have shown since day one and he's ready to make a name for himself. Kirby will move back to catcher leaving us with a lineup that should be a nightmare for opposing pitchers.
The bullpen should get a boost from AAA up and comer Charlie Erswell.
Our staff of McElroy -- Theodore -- Buller -- McOwl should be excellent as well.
Good luck Carolina, the better team won it....THIS year. But don't get too comfortable. We aint done yet. We're young, talented, and under contract.WINDY CITY PLAYBOYS

Gained back the two games I lost last week with a 3-3 sim. Now 5.5 back. Won 3 of 4 against Denver. We have 3 games left at the end of the month. The upcoming schedule seems to favor me, but you never really know. I got beat badly by Sergio Lumar and Sin City, and we are now 5-11 against them on the season.Los Lunas Javelinas - 1978 Brewmaster Champions!

Lost two to Carolina (go figure) and took four straight from California. Ed Colville and Dylan Howard had good debuts.
Let's hope for a winning September to finish up .500 for the season.
On a bright note.....my A Ball team - Cheyenne Wranglers - took the first three games of the A Ball Championships. All we need is one out of the remaining four.

Wow, 6-4 over my last 10. I haven't seen that in a long long time. Overall things went pretty well. However, I'm getting pretty sick of players asking for trades because the "team is losing" when they have an ERA of over 7.50 or a batting average circa the Mendoza Line. They're the reason the team is losing. Going to a better team is only going to make that team worse.

well at least sakai pitched a great game. hopefully he'll be anchoring my rotation in a couple years. he certainly appears primed to take over watson's spot next year.
edit: looks like i took it back in this one :D

Well, Maine cheated their way to another title it seems, go figure. Hartford is going to have some money issues come the end of the season, not looking forward to that at all. I could make a run the next few years, if my market size wasn't almost nonexistant.
As for the Middletown Whalers (AA), they are locked at 1 game a piece with Auburn. Two major bright spots has been SP Jack Lewis (who once almost left in a trade), 2-0, 1.56, 0.75 WHIP, and the aptly named HrfdW Castro, who is batting 16 for 39, a .410 BA, 3HR, 10RBI, and a 1.145 OPS. At least we'll have some talent to fill in for the guys we'll be losing. This is Middletown's 3rd straight year in the postseason.

Well, I figured out why the reports have been taking so long. It's including ALL Box scores, game logs, news, etc in the html file even though I only have the last 7 days selected. This is roughly about 15,000 unnecessary html files at this point in the season. :x
