  • BLB "What If..." #11

    Just trying to generate talk...

    SCENARIO:

You're the RULES CZAR with one move. You can add or remove one rule to the BLB effective immediately. What do you use it on? The Cap? The DH? More playoff teams? Less Pat?
    The Great One!

Not sure if this qualifies as a rule, but I'd add a Dominican type league that plays during the off season and institute some type of structure to sign the players or just include them in the draft. Most likely the draft. Seems more fair that way.

If not that, then the implementation of a Fall League. Each team could send a set number of players to participate. It would operate under the leagues umbrella, so the players could possibly progress or regress. Injuries could also be turned off or left on. I'll let the league decide that one.

As far as the flip of the switch type of rule, I think it would be interesting to see what would happen with a couple more playoff teams. Less sellers at the deadline, and possibly more demand coming from the clubs that think they have a shot, since there will likely be more of them. Not sure of the impact of the races down the stretch though.

      Rookie League.

It's another level of micro managing to be sure... but it's needed watching all these high ceiling/low rated players fail miserably in A ball.

        This.

My second choice would be evening out the Media Revenue so budgets are closer to each other.

            Rookie league.

Expansion + Wild Card play-in game.

            Get rid of Rule V.

            Clinch plan rule.

Too late now, but I pushed for this when we were creating the league. Every team has the exact same financials. From there whatever fluctuation that occurs is handled by the game. I lost this argument because we wanted small markets and big markets like real baseball. Then again 6 man rotations don't happen in real baseball. In the end it's still a truer test when everyone is dealing with the same bank account.

Add four expansion teams... Would do two every two years... Like we did for the last four expansion teams. I'm not sure ootp has the ability, but with two WC winners from each league playing a one game playoff to see who makes the final eight.

And we will get the clinch plan... When Brad is commish.

Never. I'll burn this bitch to the ground first!

Plus, Brad already broke the OSFL draft utility. You're going to trust him with the 'A' league.

Ok. Well, if not Brad, whenever we get a conmish who doesn't benefit from keeping the rule out, it will happen.

Every Commish benefits from not adding a rule that could literally triple the amount of time it takes to run the SIM. AND create an scenario where the AI does something different than the "plan" and it leads to drama.

Plus, most importantly, its not level. What if one team has 6 games the last week and another has 7. It wouldn't be fair to have different rules for a different number of games.

Triple the time, really? We shall see what happens this final week.

Absolutely. It takes 5-10 minutes to run a SIM (compiling the files is the bulk of the time). Having to check all scenarios after each day and physically executing them easily triples the time.

Plus, you couldn't possibly account for all scenarios. What if you send "If a clinch on tuesday, pull X out on Wed and replace with Z... But Z got hurt on Monday? Now I can't do anything.

The one thing that all owners in the BLB have to accept coming in is that we do 7 day SIMs. Period.

We made the adjustment to the playoffs, but even that doesn't change the fact that there are no Mid-SIM adjustments.
