    Refresh my memory on this...

I know that rosters now expand, but I forget if this time counts as a regular callup, or not at all. Basically, if someone has 1 option year left, and you bring them up, do you have to send them back down at the end of the year and they have none left, or do those rules not apply here? I think I remember them applying, but I'm dumb, so tell me damnit!

I can't remember exactly how this works. I'm not sure when the options are taken away. I seem to remember people getting screwed last season because they called up a player with 1 option left and it got taken away as soon as the season ended, and they couldn't send him back down. This may have been fixed though. Let me play around with it, and I'll get back to you.

      Looks like this was fixed.

      Option years are used:

      A) At the beginning of the season, if the player is on the 40 man roster and starts the season in the minors.

      or

      B) Whenever the player is sent down, if they started the year in the majors

Yep I was stuck with Criston Perez being out of options. And Tillbrook. SO I have to move Tilbrook through waivers to get him back down. Thankfully nobody claimed him because he popped to a 67 POT soon after.

But I didn't want Perez to stay up, but I had no choice.

So, correct me if I'm wrong... and I usually am...

Players MUST be on your 40-man roster in order to get a September call-up -- True or False?

That's what I thought. Glad I checked though.

And then the only way to get them off the 40-man is for them to clear waivers, right?
