The Joe Reyes trade from early in our league history. Wish I could have that one back.

I like this question...I don't think I've made too many mistakes - though we'll see in 3 years if trading half my minor league system (and Wildfire) for Ro Gonz, Knight, Valencia and Mac Aaron is a failure because we never make the playoffs...

That aside, in my second draft (1991) Cavades (who I had hoped and prayed) would fall to 3rd went 2nd. That left CF Nao Matsumoto and Mig Manhos as my top 2. Went with the everyday player, hoping to create a solid young OF built around Sau and Matsumoto. Unfortunately, Matsumoto busted and Manhos is a stud.

Such is international prospect life. I remember getting some crap for picking Sau, and that's turned out ok. Hernandez turned into an awesome Robin to Sau's Batman, but he wasn't projecting that big 4 years ago. Matsumoto would have been Rex Knight w/ better average and less power and younger in the 1995 OF.

If you switch those 2 players/picks Matsumoto/Manhos (among other things) there's no need for Gonzo and Rex Knight 4 years later and I also don't think we have the type of trading frenzy that lit up the BLB in 1995.

SS Grandon... Had I known good hitting shortstops were so rare in OOTP (not just the BLB) I'd have figured out a way to hang on to him.

Nothing. I've made a few dumb FA moves over the years but nothing that really mattered because we didn't have a chance anyways. I've made some horrible picks but I think my scout was on drugs back in the day...so we fired him.

I guess I've only made one real blockbuster trade and that was Hamilton, Martinez, Cervantes, and a 1st for Castre and Gonzalez. Those two have given us a winning record every season they've been here so I can't complain about that one. I do think Hamilton is going to be a superstar though (I guess he already is)...so maybe a megastar.

Grandon fell off a cliff three years into his big deal with me. You wouldn't have got a lot more out of him.

Far from it...just didn't make a lot of big moves. The mistakes I made only made me stronger. I wouldn't...sniff sniff...be here today without them.

Your post got me thinking about Grandon's replacement, Almodo Andradez. It turns out Cali picked him up too, after I let him go to Free Agency.

So here's a heads-up... SS Juan Jose Padilla will likely be a free agent in a couple of sims.
