Ok, quick story that no one cares about. I got a promotion at work in the beginning of October. But because this is our busy time of year, my old/current boss wouldn't let me go to the other division until January 1st. So for the last two months, I've been pulling double duty and having to do both jobs. Miserable.
Before I go any further, let me mention that I don't condone texting/reading and driving. But since I haven't had a ton of time to slack off during the day, I usually get my SGN fix by checking it on my phone at nearly every stop light. I've become a glorified lurker. I'm sure no one's noticed, but my post count has probably gone way down.
Anyways, so now that my replacement has finally started, she rides with me every day for training which has bogged my day down even more since I have to explain every single thing I do. No biggie, but it's really cramped my stop light SGN'ing. Or SGN'ing period.
So we finish up for the day and we hit a stop light on our way back to her car, and I can't help it. I check SGN. First thread I check is this. I start to read and the light turns green... but it's too late. I'm halfway into the clown's post. I keep reading, and start with a chuckle... then laugh... then a belly laugh... and by the time I get to Clay's movie idea, I literally have a tear coming down my face in front of a former DI cross country runner 5 years my junior. I didn't even try to explain what I was laughing at.
At this point, we're poised to be the top team in the DL, having finished one of the most successful rebuilds in league history. There are no bad contracts on our team, and every dollar is spent with purpose. Good farm system, but probably not in the top 10.
The league is now running on OOTP X, resulting from the fallout of a highly debated switch following the 1995 campaign. After neither side would budge, JJ suggested moving back to X as a comprimise. After four and half real time months debating the switch, all GM's unanimously agreed.
Since the switch back to OOTP X, players are appearing with the "forum name" first name in the game. JJ Gremades was the first overall selection by the Virgina Colonials during the 1998 first year player draft. The pick wasn't acquired via trade, as most of you are likely thinking.
No, the pick was earned. JJ's first move after taking over the Colonials was to put his stamp on the franchise, making every player wear the uniform #40, in honor of BLB legend Joe Reyes. In addition, *he began moving Virginia standouts Chavez, that Pancho guy, and Daly for former Millers and draft picks. This plan backfired, resulting in dead last league finishes in 1996 and 1997.
I dont get it but goddamn that was funny. I was was casually rolling through the thread when that banana looked right at me and stopped me in my tracks. halarious.
