He has a great baseball name.

Reminds me of a slugging high school 1B I played against whose last name was Hammer.

Who is Mini-Woodbury? Hector Chavez is the hispanic Woodbury. "El Timbre".

Hamilton still isn't on the Top 20 list, but that might be because the game is just going to decide that he isn't good anymore.

Marshburn is awesome, but you might be waiting a while for that.

Someone popped on this week because Jerry Daly slipped off. Its been a very active list this year. Woodbury fell out of #1 3 weeks ago. Responded with 2 straight POW's and reclaimed it.

5-1 week, to give us sole control of the Ale and a two-game division lead. Best record in the league.

Gervasio Dealba, back on the roster with Suarez and Bollati out, steps in and throws eight scoreless innings in a win over his former team, Los Lunas.

            Ki-hyeon Lim update: 1-0, 7 saves, 9 2/3 IP, 3 H, 3 BB, 15 K, 0.00 ERA, 0.62 WHIP.

            Shao-qi Long update: 1-0, 7 IP, 4 H, 4 BB, 5 K, 0.00 ERA, 1.14 WHIP.

I'm really happy to see Lim doing so well.

Continues to be a great trade for you.

And damn, what about Tardif? He's got the third lowest ERA of his career this year. Great find in FA.

During this SIM... Pancho "Ironfist" Herrera celebrated his 28th birthday...

Can't wait for this kid to hit his prime. I think he has a future in this league.

Woodbury also collected hit #2,500. Yay to the old man.

                  Woodbury Collects Hit Number 2500
Friday, August 18th, 1995: Mel Woodbury of the Virginia Colonials earned his membership in the exclusive 2500-hit club this afternoon at Colonial Park of Williamsburg. The 38-year-old center fielder got his milestone hit in the Colonials 5-4 triumph over the Baltimore Bulldogs. Woodbury went 1-2 for the game.

As far as career numbers Woodbury has compiled a .308 batting average and collected 2500 hits, 479 home runs and 1656 RBIs.
Something interesting to me. Ken Cahill also picked up hit #2,500 two weeks ago.

Woodbury is 3rd all-time with hits after turning 30. Nick Latham is in front of him by 17 hits so he should be displaced soon. #1? Ken Cahill with 1,709 and counting.

Remember McGuire? Sometimes he does to.

                  #300 for McGuire
Wednesday, August 16th, 1995: Wilmington's 2-0 victory over Philadelphia was highlighted by Don McGuire's 300th career home run. His teammates congratulated him at home plate after he circled the bases.

"I didn't see all of them out there," McGuire said with a chuckle, "until I rounded third base." He added sheepishly: "It was only a home run. It's not like I won us a World Series!"

In 4 at-bats the Wildcats right fielder collected 1 hit in his historic game, scored 1 run, and had 1 run batted in.

For his career McGuire has batted .262 and hit 300 home runs.
                  Another interesting stat.

Googz has thrown 4,788 pitches since turning 40 years of age. That's impressive for the 42-year-old.

Yet, it's still about 40% less than Walter Lacour who threw 8,185 pitches after turning 40. Lacour played until he was 42.

3-3 sim is about all we can ask for. Couple regulars out as the injury bug is mildly biting us lately.

Denver's definitely coming up in the rearview. Indy's hanging around despite a AAAA roster. Dallas is still alive. The Pilsner is legit.

Great. Now you just invited everyone (most importantly Skerik) to come in and hurt my feelings.

It's weird. I blame my unique management skills.
