Sorry about the hamster (provided that's not some weird slang I'm unfamiliar with).

Nice hot cup of coffee and a SIM to look over. What better way to start the work day? Those TPS reports can wait.

Hamster was due to go. She had already outlasted her warranty. Hell, she outlived her baby (who she had in a litter about 2 weeks after we got her - who we though was a him - already prego from the pet store). We turned like 5 babies into the pet store, kept one, he died about a year later. This one lived over 2 years - which is apparently a really good run for this breed of hamster.

Kid is fine. She loved the idea of the hamster(s) more than she actually liked the pet. I ended up caring for the stinky ass thing.

Anyway... to battle my depression, I gave myse....errr.... I mean I EARNED a 6-0 SIM.

Recently acquired SP Leo Garcia threw a No Hitter in his final regular season start at AA. He allowed only 1 base runner, the result of a walk in the 8th inning. 9 IP | 0 H | 1 BB | 13 K. That's first No Hitter I can recall at any level of the Philly organization since I took over in '87.

The BLB World is a strange place.

Ivan Olivo finished his finest month of the year in July by throwing 33 innings and posting a 2.70 ERA. You wouldn't know that because he could only go 1-0 in those 5 games.

So he's responded by tossing a 2.12 ERA over 3 games in August. His return? 0-1 for the month.

Then there's Pete Jones who was cruising this year. Since June 28th, he gave up 3 or more runs only once over 9 starts. Yet he could only go 3-3. He lost three games in which he gave up no more than 2 earned runs. So, of course, in his latest start he gets rocked for the first time in months, giving up 6 runs and he gets a no-decision. Exhibit B why wins and losses are overrated.

Denver Brode was decent in his first start for Denver. 4 runs in 6 innings. 8 strikeouts. He took the loss, but I'm satisfied.

Alonzo "I say Googz, you say Gugz" Gugierrez picked up the win going 8 innings giving up 1 run in his Denver debut.

Raul Soto picked up his 12th and 13th saves this week helping him surpass his previous high of 11. He's bounced around from starter to reliever over his first 4 years. We think he's got a permanent spot now.

¡Ole! has been great in the past two months. In his last 22 games his ERA is at 1.42 and thus far this month he's sporting a 0.82 in 9 appearances.

Scot Rodriguez has slumped hard these past two months. Hoping he can pick it up in September.

Over in A Ball, the Little Rock Bulls have made the post-season for the 2nd straight year. Last year the team made it by winning the division. This year they won the Herbert League wild card by three games. Some recent promotions might hurt the team's success in the playoffs, but anything can happen.

In AA, the Oklahoma City Bulls joined their younger affiliate by making the Lautering Union Sweet Sixteen. The team finished 12-5 in August.

Barring a late season collapse, the Tucson (AAA) Bulls should make it 3-for-3 in the Denver minor league system. Now the mission to get the parent club into the dance is the primary focus.

Carlos, your starting rotation has some real battle scars on it. Gugz, Donato, O'Moore and Brode have all seen great days in this league. You rule the league in the grizzled vet department.

1-2 vs Indy, 0-3 vs Denver. After two great weeks, we're now still sitting 2 games back of Los Lunas. We also managed to lose our best hitter, our so-called "iron man" catcher Von Haynes, for the next 5-6 weeks with a hamstring strain. So I guess we'll find out if Jerry Craig is an everyday player now.

Tough week. And given that we have no chance in hell of beating all of the Ale teams for the WC, things are not looking good.

Mini-Woodbury made his BLB debut and didn't disappoint.

Hope he's in the Top 20 players soon enough!

Yeah, I know they aren't as good as they once were, but I think they all have something left in the tank. I can't complain with what I've gotten out of them so far (even in the few starts the latest three I've acquired have pitched in).

What's important to me is that Olivo's morale has improved again now that we are winning games. I need a happy Olivo.

Why is he Mini-Woodbury? Way over my head. I feel left out and sad.

Just seemed like a good player comp.

A bit slower, and will probably strike out a bit more... but otherwise they seem similar enough.
