  • Who are you really pulling for in the Minors

Mine is Fred Green CL in AA. He has not surrended an ER at home all season. Since 7/1, 20 inn 9 h 3 w 21 K

Also he walked 23 batters in his first 32 innings. Will his control take a big jump? He certainly is spot on now.

Mine is Artie Irvin from AAA. He briefly hit the top 100 in 1993, then was injured. Dropped from the top 100 and dropped as low as 7th the teams list.

The kid can club the ball (18hrs AA/ 1994 so far this season 18hr AA-AAA) he just may never be a high batting average guy.

I'll call him up in Sept and Spring Training see if we can keep getting him some AB to work on his contact.

Why do I like him? Maybe cuz he's my only first round draft pick still on my team. (Lim was traded in 93)

He was the #1 potential player in the draft according to my scout. A few people have jumped him since he's gone to the minors.

My minor league player to root for is Mr. Seminole himself, Pat Marlin. He owns pretty much every offensive stat in our young NCAA history and he's started to put it all together in AA. He jumped back into the Top 100 last week. We'll see where he stands come the beginning of 1996, but I'm really keeping an eye on him.

I'm pulling for AAA reliever Curt Stewart.

Liked him out of high school. Sat on my list and was taken in the 4th round. He's been the same pitcher every year of his professional career. I'm hoping he puts up the same numbers in the big leagues as he has in the minors.

His career progression says he can take a step every year, but I'm still waiting on his control to inch closer to his potential before he gets the big promotion.

Chet Daugherty - Our 1st rounder in 1992, it looked like he was ready to roll last year, but he's taken a step back this year. He's 22 and still at Single A. Maybe I should have moved him up after last season and he's bored this year, but my scout just doesn't think he's ready yet. From what my scout thinks of his potential, he should develop into a perfect #2 hitter. One of those guys that started with 2's across the board, so I knew it would take him some time to develop. We'll see.

Baldassario Vercesi- Was my first 1st 1st round pick. Before I understood a little better how this draft works i thought i had a steal. At #12 my scout thought he was the best player in the draft. Scout had him 5-6-7-6-5 (potential) with what he called gold glove outfield ability and plus- plus speed. My scout said future HOFer and i thought well even if he's not quite that good at least he plays phenominal D and can run. Well then i learned that with these international guys that your scout does not have much to go on so sometimes he can overinflate their ability due to the limited sample saize and probably worse competition. So once my scout came out with his first offical scouting report I was brought back down to earth. He now thought Baldo was an average fielder with batting ratings of 4-5-7-4-4 potential. He still had the speed but my scout was backtracking fast. Needless to say he had ok year at A ball last year and finds himself having a fairly good year there again. He will be moving up after this year and I like where my scout has his batting potential ratings now at 5-4-8-5-5 with a 7 on speed and stealing and 6-5-5 in the field which transfers to 7-3-7 at the OF positions. I thought I had the next superstar, then thought i had a huge bust, now i'm just hoping he splits the difference.

Also feel free to wish him a happy birthday since in game his birthday is today the 14th of August.

Vercesi was one of those questionable cases that I thought would heavily depend on the kind of minor league development he got.

well seeing as how he is my first experience with a top 100 prospect I assume I'll fuck this up.

Chet Stephens and Pete Merner. Oh wait that was the 80's...putting Bustavia on the map.

I guess my one and only prospect...Clareno. Him and Colonel could be a good 1-2 combo in the future. I do have a few other unknowns who seem to be making decent to good jumps in my Player Progression screen. Maybe all that top coaching is paying off.
